I always thought that the problem with the PF was not that they needed to do something else but that no one in the marketing department understood what to do with them. They were way ahead of their time. Had they emerged in the early 90s rather than the early 80s they would have absolutely slaughtered the likes of Stone Roses, La’s, etc.

have to disagree with you there..with the changing climate of music, not sure of the paleys could have really kept up with what was going on at the time....go back and listen to shack..as introspective they were, michael writes from more of a singer songwriter perspective than an actual band dynamic so i think they came out at the right time....also, they just didn't write any hits....jeans not happening is one of my all time favourite songs but not really the type of tune that was going to fall into rotation on even most indie stations....hell, we didn't even play it alot at the alt. music clubs in dj'ed in back in the 80s..
