Thanks, very useful. Getting the FZ1000 ii for a trip to Uganda with some safari, and I feel comfortable to be using the i.Zoom based in these results. Just for context: at what distance were the shots of the heron? I do have an old Olympus e-520 DSLR with the 70-300mm (600mm eq), but it's an old 8 MP sensor. So I guess between the brighter lens, newer sensor, higher resolution and pretty good digital zoom options, I should be able to get results at least as good. And probably better in the optical zoom range. Anyway, this helps me prepare. Getting the camera this weekend, so plenty of time to fiddle around and familiarise myself with the settings and options.

Thank you so much. You really have explained the auto focus very well. It's been one of the most frustrating things for me to master with this camera, especially the auto tracking.

Hello Graham, thank you for making videos to help people achieve some nice shots on this device. Although this topic covers AF and IZoom do you have another video for Long Exposure Waterfalls or ocean surf photography?

Hey Graham! Good to see you out and about!!! Thanks for some of the additional detail on each of the focus modes. The touch screen is wonderful (my DSLR does NOT have) except being a long-time viewfinder user I find my nose likes to select the focus spot for me - LOL - fortunately the beep tells me I've done so. I wish you'd send the heron my way!: What I would call a mole is the bane of my existence!!! My backyard grass is a scant 8 metres square but I try to keep it thick and lush... the moles absolutely demolish it!!! Anyway - thanks for another great informative video! Steve

Yes the nose focus is a real problem for some left dominant eyed people and it can catch you out if you don't notice the focus point has moved. The voles are much smaller than moles and they don't create those massive earth mounds that we often see here as well.Thanks for your comment

I have an old FZ100 which I never really explored its potential but your tutorials on the FX1000 have been useful as many of the features are the same. Can you recommend any tutorials on the FZ100?

Hello Graham, is the 1000 II a better option than the 1000? and...is the version 2000 better for photos than both 1000? many greetings and thank you for your videos

Excellent! Thanks Graham, your videos are invaluable. As a bit if a beginner ! I notice you were on AF Macro - presumably because the doll was at close range? Apologies for stupid question!!

That is correct as it allows the closer 1 metre focus distance with this setting at full zoom

Right now, I trying out the fz80 and plan on return it for the FZ1000 for concert photography. Seems like the sensor size and mic input is a worth upgrade. What is your input on this?

Resultados da pesquisa Resultado da tradução Português Inglês hello. I noticed that when connecting the camera to an external monitor via HDMI it cuts the signal when the rec is activated, when pausing the signal returns. Is it her own or is there some confirmation in her that cancels this out. thanks.

I have an FZ80 and considering going to the FZ1000 for its superior sensor and hence low light performance. I was concerned about the loss of zoom reach with the FZ1000 but the results you achieved on the M8 mode were impressive. Thanks for the excellent video.
@GrahamHoughton122 жыл бұрын
The gains in going from the FZ80 to the FZ1000 might not be as great as you might anticipate. The gains are in the longer focal lengths (up to the 400mm EFL) where the aperture is one stop wider and hence twice the light entering the sensor. From 400mm onwards where you might have to crop from the FZ1000 images to achieve the same image composition the results from the FZ80 may be better. A lot depends upon available light of course - good light means cleaner images on the FZ1000 as well.

@@GrahamHoughton12 Thanks for the great feedback. I do a lot of nature shots in woodland areas and this is where I think the larger sensor might help a lot with extra detail, but I certainly take your point on the focal length limitations. Also keen to do more low light evening landscapes as here in Australia even in winter the light for most of the day is quite harsh, and here I was thinking the larger sensor of the FZ1000 might add a lot more punch to such images.

I passed my FZ70 (older version of FZ80) on to a friend after I bought my FZ1000. I regret it. I love the capabilities of the FZ1000 but, for birding, I really miss the optical zoom of the FZ70.

I recently bought an FZ1000 for $250. I love it so far, but cannot open the i zoom function. What is the process for this operation. The 400 zoom is great, but I want more. Thanks!

I often come back to these. Was trying to figure out how to move my focus box today. I must accidentally pressed. something different in the settings. Can get it to move back to center box. It's on the upper right hand corner.

I'm using face and eye tracking. It finds my face fine, but it doesn't automatically adjust the focus for me. I.e if I move forward and back the box follows me but the focal doesn't adjust. Any ideas?
