Kane simply doesn’t understand the question being asked of Fagan. Yes, the issue is the drop away after half time due to a lack of pressure (as Kane points out here), but Fagan is being asked WHY they drop away, and Fagan doesn’t have the answer right now. Cam Rayner needs to be called out more. Number 1 pick, 7th season, massively inconsistent and clearly has his head up his ass. Never been dropped as well which is crazy. If he was at any other club he would be getting questioned - trade bait at the end of the season

Not saying it’s the same thing at all, but gws got a bit of crap for dropping cogs a season or two ago and he responded so well from it. Sometimes players might need to have a kick in the bum to get the best from them.

For context I think Fagan is partly to blame. He has refused to turn him into a starting midfielder. He needs to put fresh guys like rayner, bailey, berry all in the middle and completely change it up. Berry smashed Oliver in the 2nd half of a semi final against my dees a couple of years ago and since is just used as a nothing player.

Rayner is not a pure midfielder. He's a half forward who can pinch hit on the ball. It's horses for courses and he needs to be played in the position he's of the most value to the side. He can tear a game apart on his day.

The margins are very fine in this game. There are so many good sides at the moment. GWS have improved, Geelong, Sydney who were previous years grand finalists have improved. Have we forgot how everyone was writing off Geelong last season after winning the Premiership? Now they’re pretty much flag favourites. Essendon and Gold Coast have made gains. Dees and Carlton are top sides. Pies, Port and Lions have dropped off so far but have had difficult draws and the margins are tight. If you drop off 5-10% you go from the best team in the comp to the bottom eight. Let’s see what the panel is saying about the Lions after their upcoming run against the bottom sides.

they have lost belief plain and simple. when you continually get close but miss it takes a toll. last year would have been a massive mental hurdle to overcome. when things started off hard this year confidence in the system team mates coaches all waivers. maybe only 1 percent but at an elite level that is all it takes

Kingsley seems a great coach. I so wish he was at port and was hoping Kenny was gone a little while ago and he was our new coach. All new coaches come in with a new voice and inspire and belief etc etc. port with Hinkley first 2 years from nothing to prelim. Brisbane from nothing to bloody good team but end of the day no results. A coach only has so long without success before the players stop listening. port have gone to far maybe Brisbane are at that point.
