I've seen tons of comments about people saying Vegas is going to thrash Florida. Just like we all thought Boston, Toronto, and Carolina might too. If they do it, this is easily going to be the greatest cup run of the last decade+.

I find Vegas will be the best team they have played since they played the bruins. They have really shined in the playoffs, just like Florida. They have more depth offensively and are a bit more explosive. Florida has better goaltending. Both are great teams though.

As a Canes fan I really had a sinking feeling going into the start, Bobrovsky was on point for the Playoffs and ever since they were down 3-1 against the Bruins the team overall played with such a huge chip on their shoulder. Am I disappointed? Yes, but we couldn't have lost to a better team; one that was completely written off that fought against the odds to get to the Final for the 2nd time in their franchise

I definitely knew it would be a tough match up for the Canes, as compared to Toronto, but unfortunately, Bob stole a few games for them, and the Refs stole the last one (case could be made game 3 as well). Unlike Dallas, who just laid down and died last night, the Canes fought to the end and it's a shame they got jobbed.

I'm going for Florida as an Avs fan. They are just by far the most interesting team to watch and would have the best cup story, have character in their team, they are SMILING while doing it. This offseason will be interesting, I wished Dubas stayed but Keefe has to go. We need to trade a player of the core 4 (Marner or Nylander in my opinion). We need to get a gritty player or two. Knies looks like an exciting prospect and if we lose Sammy I have faith Joseph Woll.

Whether that goal was good or not, we were done for. It made no difference in the long run.

Had Buffalo beaten New Jersey in the 3rd last game of the season none of this would be happening. The line between winning and losing is so fine that a random regular season game between 2 random teams in your conference was the difference between you missing the playoffs and you potentially winning the Cup. Of the 4 games played in the series , this game was by far the best to watch . The whole game was literally who wanted it more and in the end the Panthers just out worked , out hustled and mostly outplayed Carolina . Even though it was only 4 games , it was a very close series and any of the games could have gone to either team . Florida just seem to want it more imo.

The Canes lost two more players to injury and went down 2 goals against the hottest goalie in the playoffs, and they worked their arses off to get back in it, only to go behind on a stupid play by ko, then fight to tie it again...only to get screwed by the refs again.

Tbf the analytics site moneypuck kind of hard called this, they had the Panthers well inside the top 10 in their power rankings since December or so, and iirc gave them around a 47% chance of winning the Bruins series before game 1. Interestingly it also really seemed to love the Calgary flames, so I wonder if they would’ve been able to do something similar if they’d managed to make the playoffs. I’d guess not bc the Panthers have gotten a lot of timely goals and had good goaltending in their run, while the flames are basically the epitome of anti-clutch

As a Boston fan, after Game 5 against Florida I felt like it became Florida's series to lose. It just felt like something was clicking with this Florida team and the chance to knock them out of it had slipped away, even if technically Boston still had the 3-2 lead. They faced some serious adversity, started playing at a whole different level and have not looked back since. It has been really fun to watch. I like good hockey and Florida has been serving it up every night. Looking forward to these Finals.

Ive always hated tkachuk because he was an absolute nuisance against my predators but now that hes in the east i gotta say im coming around on this guy! Bob has always been one of my favorites especially after his vezina run but hes been in such a weird slump the past fews years. No what I feel is lost in all this is how it was able to actually happen in the first place. Had Buffalo beaten New Jersey April 11th Florida doesn’t even make the playoffs. Brad Marchand was 2 inches away from scoring and ending round 1 in 5 games as well. Yet here they are, about to potentially win the Cup.

None of these games were as close as they look on paper. Florida lead by 1 goal for the majority of the ice time by design. Carolina had way more shots most of the time as well. Florida was focused on making sure Bob could see that puck coming and only going for the goal when a clear opportunity struck.
