Seems that the logistics needed to go that far would definitely be a challenge day after day, to weeks, to months unending miles that for the most was near impossible to ever reach thier objectives. The weather alone was intolerable for man or machine...the distance they traveled has to be recognized by the world over and saluted,,

No one has ever put that much work into winning a War. Germany fought the entire world. One small Nation against everyone. And still caused more casualties against the allies. No winter clothing and outnumbered 10 to 1 in russia and They still made it to the gates of moscow. They even made it all the way to the Volga at Stalingrad. Germany should have won WW2.

My Dad was on the trains heading east to his first posting. Stalingrad. Before his train got there, the Russian pincers closed around Von Paulas' army and my Dad's unit got attached to Von Manstein's forces and he participated in Operation Winter Storm. Dad spent over a year and a half in Russia before his unit got moved to Normandy after the D-day invasion. Savage war.

I was watching an old video on Starlingrad and the way that I know my Father grow up under Hitler. And was in the Hitler youth. Dad and I would talk about the war. Always educational and an insite into a man who survived by sheer determination not to die. Any way after watching this video,,,It had a list of the German dead and AHRENS,Bruno came up. I got on the phone with my Father,,,He said that someone from our family was there. RIP to all the German boys who fell in Starlingrad.

A historical fact on the side. The 6th Army deployed in Stalingrad under General Paulus had around 1,000,000 soldiers, of whom died in combat, 150,000 starved and froze to death in the Battle of Stalingrad. 108,000 soldiers of the 6th Army went into Russian POWs from which only 6,000 returned in 1956. By the way, did you know that more than 10,000 German and allied soldiers didn't surrender at Stalingrad and continued fighting in the sewers for over 1.5 years...? Die Russischen Soldaten waren 1.5 Millionen Soldaten und mehr als 500.000 fielen im Kampf.

Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what/whom the orator was describing. Professional class A research project!!! Special thanks to veteran soldiers/civilians sharing personal information/combat experiences making this documentary more authentic and possible. Fighting/perishing/surviving knowing certain death/debilitating wounds were often times possible. Still advanced forward regardless of the consequences. Fierce/debilitating/diabolical city combat missions. One of the final disastrous/Military operations. The disillusioned arrogant Hitler 😈😈 ordered against the advice of his seasoned/experienced generals. The supply chain was too far stretched. As general Zhukov's weren't along with ample infantry replacements. So ended the possibility of Berlin's disillusioned ambitions of capturing the oil fields in the Caucasus region. Thus crippling it's mechanized army. Enjoyed the 20 second session of the German soldiers on horse 🐎 back!!!

As a soldier I have the highest regard for battlefield bravery, but this film is wrong. The Wehrmacht was the best army the world has ever seen, its defense of Germany in 1945 was truly heroic, but in 1941-3 millions of its soldiers died invading lands far from Germany, and millions of Poles and Russians died defending their homeland. What was that all about? The film also praises the "civil governance", but stops short of telling us what that means: Auschwitz in Poland, 34,000 corpses in Babi Yar, 700,000 starved to death in Leningrad, million dead in Stalingrad. In retaliation 100,000 Germans were burned alive in Dresden. The most horrific time in world history, all part of the war initiated by the 24th.

Regardless of what anyone says you just have to admire the German military of WWII. If Hitler & just sat back & let his general's do their job without his interference WWII may have gone on longer than it did & with a different out come. As soon as he issued the orders to invade Russia many of his top military knew it wouldn't end well for them. Fighting massive military forces like Russia, the USA & the Commonwealth forces & on two fronts things just weren't going to come out like peaches & cream. The German military were real Warriors.
