A bigger piece is that these companies doing knock-offs often have zero ability to understand what’s critical in these parts and they have no intention of revising the part for features, safety, etc and supporting customers after the sale.

I want to know what shitty companies are copy/pasting/stealing product ideas in main stream so that I can know not to support them!

Interesting topic. Honestly, I think that's just the nature of business and creativity. I don't think there's really anything about motorsports that's practical, and so to have any success at all creating new parts and selling them, you're pretty lucky. Even the big brands have the same issues. For example, how much time, money and development did lotus spend developing the M100, only to have it flop while watching Mazda earn huge success with a cheap knock off of a previous Lotus design?

But the Miata wasn't a copy of it and that's the point. You can look into it and see for yourself that it wasn't a copy but an inspired, more reliable and less expensive take on the concept. Those differences were coffered in the podcast.

@@Micah_Makes Yeah, my only point was that creativity and innovation can be difficult to monetize, even for big brands, and the passion projects such as motorsports aren't exactly practical. I didn't say anything about the brands that literally steal other brands ideas. As a consumer, I'd say buy the quality products while they are still being made, because these products aren't going to be around forever.
