Just as we are spending this week mourning another TV dad. It's funny how Robert Reed, on one level, disliked the experience of Mike Brady, but always said yes to all the Brady reunions. (Even buying himself out of a Broadway show for a week to, on his own dime, fly to L.A for The Brady Girls Get Married.)

He loved the kids rather than the role. And they were effectively the family he never had.

He loves money more than he hates the role.

Bob Reed was a fine actor. I saw him on a Columbo episode once and he was outstanding in that. "And that's a rap!!"

Robert Reed gave up a super serious career in acting, but got to be the heroic father figure to millions of children and prob even adults. Interesting career paradox. I'm sure he figured out the silver lining to the cloud in time.

For fans of both My Three Sons and The Brady Bunch, who remember watching reruns, back-to-back, way back in the day, Robert Reed's passing came months after Fred MacMurray's passing. Speaking of which, I remember watching both shows back-to-back in my native Toledo OH, during the late 1970's and I never forgot those times!!!

My dad loved him in the 60’s “The defenders” he was an incredible actor. It’s a shame that he couldn’t see that he was also talented in comedy. I don’t think just any actor could have pulled the Mike Brady role off the way he did. It’s a shame that he was never able to make peace with the fact that he was gay. I know other actors of his generation like, Tab Hunter, talked about being gay in the 50’s. I can’t even imagine how hard it would of been to be gay then. RIP Bob

He hated the show because he wanted to do more serious acting roles but while he was on the show he kept clashing with the prouducer about making the show more believable less fake, however he had a close relationship with Florence Henderson and all the kids in the show they stayed close outside the show. He and Florence still called them "the kids", like they were their kids.

Nobody actually dies from AIDS. It’s usually a secondary sickness they die from cause AIDS won’t let their body fight it off. In his case, it was cancer. Body wouldn’t allow him to fight the battle of cancer due to AIDS

He did, though he also had cancer...I also don't think it was announced immediately...this was the early 90s, so there was still a stigma against people with AIDS.
