The Past Within is the new co-op experience from Rusty Lake! Play together with someone you deem trustworthy: one in The Past, the other in The Future. Observe and communicate what you see around you. Solve the puzzles and uncover Albert Vanderboom’s plan.
The Past Within is a co-op-only game. Both players will need a copy of the game and a way to communicate with each other. Play together with a friend, or find a partner on our official Discord: / discord .

My husband don't know it yet, but his ass is playing this with me! I've been a gamer since I was around 4 years old, so I've played hundreds and hundreds of diff games, from consoles to computers to cell phones and tablets. The rusty lake/cube escape games are my favorites on mobile devices. The story and mystery in these games are amazing. And as a horror fanatic, I absolutely LOVE the creepiness in these games. Thank you all so much for all your hard work on these games, and making my days a little better and more enjoyable with these fantastic games!!!!! I'm a member of a couple horror groups on Facebook, and i tell all the other group members about these games all the time, and so far, everyone that I recommended them to, loves them!!! ❤

Technically there is a work around. If you can’t find a partner, even on the discord or subreddit, you could buy it on two separate platforms (phone & PC for example) and play both players roles at once. Which is what I’m probably going to have to do. XD

As an advanced level chess player, the chess board confused me, normally it's 8*8 board but ok the reduced size is meant to be used for the past within Fun fact: rusty lake inspired me to play chess as well

@@RustyLake I have been searching the App Store near daily since beginning of April, when RL announced expected release date. This trailer is half a yr old, and ppl are saying it’s on PC and console (at least on Switch), but I don’t own either…my only option is App Store. But I haven’t even seen a pre-order (meaning still at least a month wait till actually releases). Will it ever be an app on iPhone? If so, when? I already expected I’d have to purchase twice under two separate Apple accts to workaround 2player. It just seems impossible it wouldn’t be available as iPhone app. What’s going on? I thought by now I’d be waiting a few yrs for the next one after THIS one… :( How long has it been out on other platforms?

Rusty Lake's games are perfect for singleplayer. At best played on cold evenings, in a dark room to soak all the atmo in. That is not going to happen when you chatter constantly. Or the other one doesn't appreciate the lore as much as I do. There's nothing wrong with trying new things out. I care more about immersion though.

I just re-discovered Rusty Lake! I used to play the games when i was in Highschool and beat “the Cave” the first month it was out. I just recently found there short film made for Paradox, and watched it after beating the game today. Now after binging all of their content that’s come out since “The Cave” I’m absolutely obsessed again! I can’t believe how perfect this timing was for me to find this gem of a company that I’d been following from 5-6 years back. I hope production on “The Past Within” is still going great, but I also hope the team isn’t overworking themselves. Their attention to detail and creative decisions always blow me away, and a team that puts this much time and effort into their projects deserves to have at least some relaxation and leisure time. If anyone from the team happens to stumble across this. Thank you to the entire team at Rusty Lake for all of the joy you’ve brought to me and others playing these games. You never fail to blow us away with your creative atmosphere.
