Someone already mostly clarified the meaning of "only" in a prey instruction, but to be a bit clearer: Monsters with "Prey - [X] Only" will (a) head toward their prey even if another investigator is closer (rather than only breaking ties with that), and (b) not automatically engage investigators other than their prey (even if their prey isn't in their location and another investigator is) Unlike Aloof, which does a similar thing to (b) above, you can still attack an unengaged enemy that doesn't want to engage with you because of a "Prey - [X] Only" instruction. Like Aloof, however, you have the option to engage, in case you have a Machete or something. And, of course, engaged enemies don't get to use their Hunter keyword to move, even if it was your choice to engage not theirs.

me and my girlfriend recently beat path of carcosa full cycle (our first xpansion) running minh and mark, had a blast. i just now bought the dunwich deluxe expansion box so this is great to help me understand what i can bring from my carcosa pile to the next adventure. especially since i didnt touch a lot of the cards (every single green card is catching dust)

Would this be worth getting again as the investigator box for a double set if you already have everything?

I believe all of the player card weaknesses that have "prey" are consistent. RRG under prey says they ignore other investigators both for choosing who to move to, and also who to engage. So if The Thing that Follows passes through my space on the way to you, it ignores me. That potentially means the fighter has to waste an action engaging rather than having it automatically engage.

Looking forward to the other reviews from this cycle. PtC is my favorite campaign thus far.

It's my favourite too. That may be due to my love of Hastur, but the scenarios are all really exciting with very few duds along the way.

@@PlayingBoardGames pallid mask and unspeakable oath are among the games best scenarios.

@@LostinTimeandSpace I agree. As a big fan of The King in Yellow short stories I am also particularly fond of A Phantom of Truth. Mainly because when I first played it I pieced together what it was all referencing right before it was revealed. (Mechanically though, it's nowhere near the other two mentioned.)

@@PlayingBoardGames I am a fan too. Part of what makes this game do great is the stories it tells, even if the mechanics feel lackluster at times.
