agree with your analyses usually, but regards the control of the nukes in ukraine i have to disagree slightly. as you probably correctly stated, the ukraine never had the codes. but the bombs and delivery platforms were on their soil. they had lots of experts and specialists for these systems stemming from the common soviet education and military institutions. they in fact could have swapped out the mainboards of the control units in the rockets and bombs and programmed these with new codes. probably not a trivial task, but still massivelly easier and cheaper than developing and building the bombs and delivery systems. might have led to the current war happening then already, but russia was in turmoil as well, so who knows what the outcome would have been. and the ukies probably did not even have enough cash to do the mentioned adaptations. so they probably decided its not worth it to risk the delivery of cheap energy from russia at preferential prices. anyway, just thought that the point about who had control of the nukes then is kind of moot.

The Ukrainians never had nukes to 'give up'. Only *one* country in the Soviet Union had nukes and that was Russia. Russia *stationed* nukes in Belarus, Kazakstan, and 'the Ukraine', but all were protected and maintained by Russian troops. When the USSR collapsed it was the Ukrainians who begged for the nukes to be taken away as they were too expensive to maintain.

The clearest example was that the oligarchs got the different city hooligans ultras mustache man supporters to go to Odessa and donbas to attack and stop the protests. The army was really not that organized and capable at that time. Even though they controlled the government at that time. Also things like 20000 of 21000 in Crimea ripped off there Ukrainian patches in 2014 and joining russia. Our news told us that this was putins little green men
