Wow! I'm an RN. Periodically I watch review videos, basically chosen at random. I have never seen the renin-angiotensin system explained more clearly. Wonderful, wonderful job.

Good video but just one issue, the renin itself does not directly stimulate the secretion of aldosterone from the adrenal cortex cells. It is the angiotensin II that causes the the secretion of aldosterone, by acting on the AT1 receptors on the adrenal cortex. Renin simply begins the process via proteolytic enzymatic cleavage of angiotensinogen. Just pointing this out as you drew the arrow directly from Renin to angiotensinogen. Thankyou

I understood HTN and the need for duiretics and ACE inhibitors by watching this 10mins video. A feat that i have proven difficult to achieve while reading several texts. Job well done, thanks a million.This is my new study center.

Good explanation and good refresher about blood pressure and the kidney's role in regulating it. I liked how you brought the explanation around to what you said in the beginning of the video and re-wrote the BP=CO x PR. The only thing I would change would be if you could write a little larger. Sometimes it was hard to read the writing. The blue, yellow, and white showed up nicely on the black background though.

Awesome video, but I havent understood what leads to increased Resistance in the Arterioles. why did the renal arteries have to increase their resistance? Did the pressure decrease, and as a result all this happened?
@TexAnne
@TexAnne 8 жыл бұрын
The kidney isnt receiving enough blood so to compensate for that, the artery constricts.

My understanding is that people from the black race do not produce as much Renin there fore ACE_I and ARB's are not helpful. Is this correct?
@annumsadiq3340
@annumsadiq3340 8 жыл бұрын
+Monika Fleming Yes that is why patients who are black, african or caribbean family origin regardless of age are treated with CCBs as first line of treatment instead of ACE/ ARB which is the usual first line treatment for HBP for anyone
