I realized, thanks to a comment by @buddyWalrus, that I completely neglected to talk about the weather resistance of this bag. It is excellent in this regard. The first day of Philly it was pouring and all of my stuff in the bag was dry as a bone. (This is diminished slightly if you do fill the top of the bag full to the upper latch. There are spots for water to get in if you do that.) In addition to that I did not mention that the laptop slot is quite thin, so regular binders do not fit in there. They can be strapped to the outside or fit in the main compartment if you remove all the dividers.

I am super surprised to see this kind of review. MTG players/photographers are a rare breed indeed. I use this same 20L bag for my TCG and photo needs and agree with a lot of the points you have. To add, I have a bit of trouble using the side access while slinging it from my back to my side for quickness, so I think I'll have to finally pull the trigger on the Capture Clip for quick camera use. Also I love the weather resistance on the thing, most bags are not completely waterproof but this one can stand in rain for awhile as long as the zippers are fully zipped and you aren't expanding the top area. Expanding that part makes the top opening flare out, exposing the inside. I can't fit my trade binder in the laptop sleeve which is a real bummer. And I wish the straps were a bit wider, my smallish frame gets a bit sore with it fully loaded (4-6 decks, spare cards/trades, 1-2 binders strapped outside, camera + 1-2 lenses, accessories, dice, playmat, water, mini dopp kit). But yea that's a ton of stuff so not bad overall! If I really need more space, I have the Wandrd Prvke 31L which is a storage beast, but lacks the quicker access of the Peak Design backpack.

That’s awesome! Thank you so much for commenting! It’s funny you mentioned the weather protection because I completely forgot to mention it and the first day at Philly it was pouring rain, and I completely missed that all my stuff was completely dry. (Expect my playmat…which was in one of the outer pockets and not in a tube…). I hadn’t considered the binder not fitting, which is a bummer. I don’t carry my trade binder around much (which is dumb and probably why I don’t trade all that often…need to fix that.) I know what you mean about the quick access on the side. I haven’t had to use it much for speed since I got the clip when I got the bag, but I can definitely tell it is a little finicky when slinging it around. And thank you for giving me another bag to look into! I’ll definitely check out that Wandrd Prvke 31L. Thank you again for watching and commenting!

The Peak Designs backpack lines are great, really love the designs, however at 3.66 LB for 20L, that is a lot of weight just for the container used to carry other things. I do a lot of ultra light hiking so any bag that is over 1.5LB is a deal breaker for me personally. Also for card packing cubes, I find the most efficient way to do this is the plastic deck boxes inside the Gamegenic Game Shell 250+ as it is roughly the same size as a medium packing cube and at the bottom of your bag it provides a solid foundation to your packing as heavier items in your backpack should be closer and lower on your back (if you have a full clamshell opening bag then this helps when TSA things your brick of cards are drugs).
@beyondthedeckbox Жыл бұрын
That makes complete sense and thank you for bringing that up! You might not be able to tell but I’m allergic to hiking so I often don’t think of those angles. 🤣 I do like the Gamegenic Shell and I plan on checking out the Quiver soon which I think is a similar idea. Thanks again for the comment and for watching!
@jon.applovin Жыл бұрын
@@beyondthedeckbox The Quiver has better overall build quality, but it is 11 inches wide. The Gamegenic Shell is roughly 8 inches wide, which is less than the width of a lot of backpacks.

Have you had any experience with the sling version of these bags? ive always prefered to use slings over backpacks if i can help in and want more opinions on finding good slings

Hey, FDS Thanks for this review! I have a trip planned next month and I'm thinking of getting this backpack for my camera and a handful of decks. I know it will fit the decks I'm likely to bring, but I plan having it as my carry on so I wonder if you could please verify on how many boulders fit in each origami section of the bag? I'm trying to determine how much space beyond the decks I'm bringing I'll have and consequently the size I should buy.
@beyondthedeckbox Жыл бұрын
Each oragami section can hold one Boulder 100 or 80. You can fit two of the 60s in each section but they need to be stacked. The 20L is small enough to be considered a "personal item" but I can't speak to the 30L. That might fall into the "stow above" category but I'm not sure. I hope that helps!

Hey, I wanted to ask, if you have any additional points after a year or if you would still recommend exactly this model or something else.
@beyondthedeckbox4 ай бұрын
I definitely still recommend this with one caveat. If you can afford it, go for the 30L, this ones bigger brother. I really like the 20L but's it's proven to be just a shade too small for my needs. Eventually I plan on picking up the 30L but it might be a bit.
@TobiasLeonHaecker4 ай бұрын
@@beyondthedeckbox thx for the answer. that was the plan, since I do commute a lot and need the 30l. My Girlfriend got me a pinqponq nearly a year ago, but this one really doesn't work for me at all.
@TobiasLeonHaecker4 ай бұрын
@@beyondthedeckbox I bought it!!! And I'm very happy with it. Got it at eBay used but in very good condition for half the price. Therefore not in my favourite colour. On the blue one you see the white dirt too fast, so I would recommend the grey one. Also the 30l is already a bit on the heavy side with 1,6kg and it's big. I think for everyday use the 20kg is s solid choice. But since I do a lot of commuting with public transportation I need the big one. My biggest complaint is, that the back could have been more cushioned and breathable. The sniffle straps make it fit snuggly on my shoulders but filled heavily I really feel it on the back and it gets sweaty.

Even though I have a amazing TCG bag, I think I might end up picking this up simply because it has that slot for the camera
@beyondthedeckbox Жыл бұрын
If you are referring to the slot on the strap, that is separate item that I picked up with the bag. It's the Peak Design Camera Clip and it doesn't come directly with the bag, it's a different product. Sorry for any confusion.

Do you know if a 12 pocket binder would fit in the laptop slot?
@beyondthedeckbox11 ай бұрын
I have confirmed that a 12 pocket will not fit. I can't speak for the 30L option. A thin 9 pocket might fit. (I don't have any around right now to check.) I hope that helps!
