Thanks for covering our game, we appreciate it so much! And we have already fixed that bug you mentioned, preventing you from accesing planets and using the building panels. Thank you for the feedback as well! As for the replayability, there'll be four content updates in the following months with additional story scenarios, and a brand new campaign featuring one more playable faction that will come with the full launch. So, even though the galaxy isn't procedurally generated, you will be able to replay The Pegasus Expedition several times and still discover something new; with all the planned content, multiple endings and variable sidequests.

I like the concept of your game, but there is a price for... morality, and that you forget here. Allow enemy to withdraw and return in full force, then more lives, your people lives will be lost (your spiece is on the verge of extinction), but dont worry, you will be on moral high-grond... that is, forgive me, but stupid. Still, I have great hopes for this game.
@dango4702 жыл бұрын
@@rohenthar8449 not necessarily stupid. During the 17th-19th century, european warfare was more or less like that. There were many conventions and honourable customs (which had roots in medieval chivalry and renaissance rise of mercenary troops) that both sides followed in order to minimize the casualties and destruction for all sides involved. If all sides involved abide by honourable conduct, its like the prisoner's dillema, it benefits everyone to say nothing to the fuzz

@@dango470 Indeed, but all of those must be thrown out the window in a naked survival situation. Just look at how actual desperate fighting went down during WWI and WWII, when the existence of a nation is truly threatened. Amplify that by several orders of magnitude if your very species is on the verge - if anything, I would expect the most gruesomely inventive traps and technologies to come about during such a time, including common use of kamikaze tactics when ships are close to destruction.

That wasn't a random outcome I could tell you have forces in areas with the red marked tactics where they would have giving your fleet a major weakness. Also I noticed your nukes also destroy your own forces as well. Your better tactic was tither the cautious one with the large fleets to wrap up areas. You had deployed forces where most of your forces were engaging essentially larger formations of ships making them get wiped out faster than the locations where you had multiple fleets attacking and the nukes destroyed more of your own forces than the enemies. I think the nukes and tactics are more like not only with diplomacy and such but also you need to be aware if your forces will be at a disadvantage with the attacks and the nukes kill enemies as well as friends making them a risk reward option.

One thing I've noticed about 4X and RTS is that they tend to be a lot more 'engine' oriented compared to stuff like RPGs, which feels like less content even though most of the effort is spent on building a world to play in and let the player(s) create the story. Looking at this one, they seem to have trimmed a lot of the (I want to say variety, but not quite?) mechanics that let you really customize your empire or tweak the back end of the mechanics in exchange for making a fairly tight and narrative rich game. That said, I do really like the fleet combat in this game compared to some others I've played. Also, confirmed that Splat always goes Gene Warrior in Stellaris.

I only have a few complaints all I would like to see but do not need. I would like to see a progress bar showing time remaining for all that is being done i.e., building researching, or repairing. I would also like to see the ability to be able to customize the ship in the fleets. When it comes to costs for repairing versus building new in every 4x/grand strategy game I have played it has always been cheaper to repair versus building new. One of my preferred options to fleet composition is to have all my ship start with mass drivers or missiles at the start of a game and as my tech advances, I put beams, missiles, fighters and point defenses on every ship and just mass build them. If the game requires a picket ship for escort purposes i.e., Master of Orion 3 I load the picket ships with PD weapons, so my main armada ships don't have to have the PD weapons which usually gives back enough room for one more main weapon system. I also didn't see a diplomacy page where you could actually talk to the other alien races. If it is already in the game great if not no big deal.

What if they're doing evil deeds to protect what's precious to them? The justifiability is really cool, what was that saying; The path to hell is paved with good intentions? A complaint I have is after I'm taking over these territories owned by the former enemy I don't suffer unrest or anything to that effect so as 4X goes it's pretty bare bones but it has something few if ever have, a compelling narrative. 6/10.

Nice review - for a Monkeigh ;) I enjoyed the demo - a nicely done 4X with some neat innovation. Sent off some ideas for a few tweaks that could improve. (Your suggestion on improved fleet management was a good one Mr Splattercat) It struck me as a hard 4X, so I have to agree with the need for a bit more tutorials to ease into the game (although the demos have some leads built in). But, it reminded me a bit of the wonderful defunct Reach for the Stars, and Imperium Galactica - you start up against the wall, and as for the latter, you get progressive challenges. I really enjoy the combat sequences, an entertaining expansion on the tantalising start made in Endless Space, sort of an 'Enders Game Overview'. 4-5 hours is what I put into the demo, and I am a fairly seasoned 4X player (up to Stellaris level, not masochistic enough to play HoI-level stuff), so good acquisition confirmed. Since I only played the demo, and didn't manage to make it to the point when I could punch through to the habitable planet AND have enough resources to actually build it up, I didn't get into recruiting leaders or getting new fleets. But, I think this is a learning curve - I have pointers to how to go, but the general issue was - you need research and autorepair quickly, you need to push through to the habitable planet ASAP, you need to build carefully but you can take some energy deficit as long as you plan civilian outposts enough. ... I can see this game getting a lot of you tube time :) Overall, nice job - well done Kalla Games!

On replayability - seems like it will have at least the standard 4X potential - having the 2 other Earth fleets playable, different tech and tech trees? Then there's making aliens playable. However, with a narrative part that is a bit of a higher threshold than the usual 4X - but it is a good problem to have: often it seems 4X games introduce new factions but most of the novelty is in out-of-game videos and play mechanics, without so much in-game flavour.

Most paradox grand strategy game actually have quite a lot of "choose your own adventure" kind of options for different countries at different times in response to different set ups and outcomes. So if you follow the historical development of a region you get events very similar to how it played out IRL with those special events or you can go multitrack drifting and they still have quite a few options for you to choose from. So it's not limiting or uncommon to the genre, but it does require a bit of work and gets exponentially harder the more you move from text to text and image to animations and voice

Playing as the Romans, there were three factions that would try to conquer the Mediterranean, and the final part of the campaign was to wage a civil war for control of the empire. Here, though, it looks like three human factions attempting to take over this new galaxy. I can't help but wonder now if there will be a civil war aspect against the other human factions. Probably to use the EUs reputation to encourage more diplomatic/humanitarian play. But unless they make the advantages of playing diplomatically tangible, it'll be an underused feature. What I'm worried about is that such stories that try to force you into playing diplomaticly or machiavellian-like often do so via false dichotomies, which cheapens the plot.

i think a way to fix ship repairs is make it more like units recovering in total war where it takes a while based on how much damage they took but is free

I would really like to see you stream 4x games. Crusader Kings 3 is really good, I think you would dig it.

Bob 1: So what you do Zeus Link is you take the demands of the commanders, and you bring them down to the xenos? Diplomat: Y-yes. That's right. Bob 2: So then I have to ask, why don't the commanders just take them directly to the xenos? Diplomat: I'll tell you why... fleet commanders, are not good at dealing with xenos! Bob 1: Uh huh. So you physically take the demands from the fleet commanders? Diplomat: Well... no. My secretary does that... or the fax! Bob 2: So then you must physically bring them to the xenos... Diplomat: Well.... No. I- I mean... sometimes. Bob 1: What would you say... you do here?

This game reminds me of the 1991 Amiga/ST strategy game "Deuteros".

Yeah the space battles look somewhat similar to the ones in Deuteros. I felt an itch to start WinUAE and play a game of Deuteros as soon as I saw those battles. :-)
