I don't get the complaining about the pacing lol. I thought it was well paced and well acted, don't think anyone gave a bad performance. I don't mind a slow burn so long as there is meaningful progression to the story, the characters are interesting and engaging and the all the build-up pays off in the end

They are more interested in acting like movie critics or couch directors than watching the shows most of the time. If they want to criticize things it's best to do it at the end after watching the entire episode. They can even take notes about things they liked or disliked if they really want to go the movie critic route.

Great episode! It is now obvious why they moved this to an “HBO Original” - the acting and the themes/concepts it is trying to tackle is very much in HBO’s wheelhouse, however, you can also clearly see from the production value that it started off as a “Max Original”. Really appreciate it when the superhero genre tries to elevate itself beyond the usual contrived and corny execution - this is a very solid start, let’s see how it pans out.

Hello, Jody. The Penguin - As a big fan of The Batman, I had tons of expectations going into this one. It's very rare nowadays that I'm actually excited for a fu*kin show. Penguin is trying to make a name for himself, after the death of Carmine Falcone. The opening scene, the first ten minutes of the episode establishes the tone. When you want to move up in Gotham City, you have to make certain decisions, you have to have a certain way of thinking. The kind of thinking most don't have the stomach for. Beginning had me cheering, based on what I know about The Penguin reading about him for years. This series is off to a great start, gave me everything I wanted from this show, and it's only the beginning. I love how it feels like The Batman, not some off shoot show. What they have going on with the Falcone Family is fantastic, they are really cooking. Can someone please get Colin Farrell an award. He's perfect as Penguin. I've read alot of Batman comics, and this one really hits. Very rare that I have no complaints, but this show is it. Penguin is underestimated by most. Terrance knows what that is like. If something like that happens, you show the humans they were wrong to do so. 10/10 TERRANCE OUT

Cliches and tropes exist for a reason. Most stories are told and re-told with some original ideas sprinkled in and some twists/turns, but a lot of the beats remain the same.
