Sal's death was great. Penguin having every major victory taken from him in a way that always reminds him/makes him feel like a little man feels very true to the comic character and is par for how he's been in the show and the movie thus far: a dude who gets by on luck and bull. The implication that Rex was also not what was made out to be is the cherry on top of that whole complex.

It makes it seem like young Oz only looked up to him because he was powerful and influential and that's what Oz has always craved. It's not spelled out or anything, this could just be my interpretation, but it kinda fits with how this episode, even with Sal's defeat, is Penguin back at his lowest.

Oz chose to not save his brothers- he was worried, and thinking about them, but chose to stay watch tv with his mom. He knew them dying would give all the attention from his mother- it wasn’t a burden to OZ to take care of Francis, he wanted it. He wants that motherly love all to himself, we saw that he got jealous of victor when Francis was sweet talking towards him. Also the fact his base operation is where his brothers had die, and showed no emotion when he’s inside the tunnel where they died; he does not cadet that they died

I think he has a twisted mind but I don’t think he meant to kill his brothers. I don’t think at any point when locking them in that tunnel did he think that they were going to die. At some point when it starts flooding we can see him actually looking through the window and maybe thinking ‘Oh this might be dangerous’ but then he’s a kid and gets distracted by the fact that he has mums to himself just tonight. Won’t be surprised if he were to go back to the tunnel next episode to try get them out and discover that it’s flooded.

I sincerely hope Episode 8 of The Penguin doesn't do a Season 8 compression like Game of Thrones did. We're still some distance away from seeing The Penguin in his classic role, complete with persona and appearance. So far, the series has given us a very organic storyline. Nothing seems forced or accelerated. Things have happened for good reason and with reasonable timing.

I don't think Oz meant to kill his brothers but I don't think he regrets it. I think back to the conversation Oz and Sophia had in episode 3 where he genuinely didn't know what Carmine would do when he grassed in Sophia but at the same time doesn't regret it because in the end he still got what he wanted. Also loved Clancy Brown as Maroni, guy just has a presence. Want to see him in more live action roles, he was the best part about Dexter New Blood too.

Batman was probably fixing the Batcave as the flood might have destroyed it and his other gadgets. Probably fixing that while multitasking in helping the city as Bruce Wayne post flood. Lots of issues BUT I assume the show would end with him setting his sights on the outcome of the show without actually showing Pattinson. Could be a teaser of the new batcave and all future tech they might show in the batman sequel.

Hate to be that guy, but if they are planning more of these spin-off shows... they have got to work out something thats obviously a road block behind the scenes, weather thats for legal reasons or not... but this show is derived from The Batman... its not crazy to want a mention of him. Hes been on the scene for 2 years, and obviously has a presence, with Oz's narcissist traits the fact he hasnt mentioned he survived a run in with batman at any point is just strange. When he got his lair, and he was pushing bliss out, "guys, just be vigilant out there, not only are Sofia and Salvator on my back, but i had some FREAK chasing me down the highway a couple of weeks ago ". And please dont say he's recovering from gunshot blasts... he was seen with Catwoman at the end of the movie, and he looked motivated and ready... not bed ridden. Loving the show, but it seems they are absolutely NOT aloud to mention him whatsoever. I dont need a physical nod to him... just... an acknowledgement of his existence.

I think Oz is going to kill his mom. Sofia is going to threaten her while she has another schizophrenic episodeto lure Oz and he's going to reluctantly keep his promise to his mom. Sofia will die but be satisfied she hurt Oz in the end and she will finally be "free". I think/hope Oz is dressed in a tuxedo and top hat with an umbrella in the end. Nah, That’s not how Sophia rolls. We haven’t seen her threaten a woman yet. She’s going to make the mother realize that Oz killed his brothers. She’s going to take his mother from him but not by killing her, by making her hate him. Just like she did with the escort. Because the worst thing to Oz is having the women in his life think that he’s a nobody. (at least that’s what the show has shown us.) if Francis does die it will be because Oz kills her after she says she hates him, after she yells at him for killing his brothers. Because Oz is emotional and he reacts out of rage. Just like he did with Sophia‘s brother, and just like he did after not getting to kill Sal. he had so much rage he shot multiple times into his already dead body 😂😂. And Oz will justify it himself by saying that she was just having a psychotic break and this is what she asked him to do. But deep down he will know the truth, it will eat away at him.

My Theory for the last ep is Sofia will have Vic and Oz's mother and she'll make him k ill one of them to save the other. I think Oz will k ill Vic. Oz’s mother was not more doting over his brothers at all. Oz was overly sensitive and wanted all of her attention. Perhaps Oz thought he deserved more of the attention because of his disability. Oz thought his brothers would get out and come home because in his head they could. They were the “normal” ones with no disabilities. As the night progresses and he realizes what may be happening, Oz descends into “The Good Son” territory. Oz is despicable. This show is top tier writing and acting!

I have a strange feeling that Vic might make it. He seems to always help Oz when he needs it most. There's a good chance that down the line he's going to become a certain character. It's a bit tooearly the way the show is going but it's possible. Oz might mercy kill his mom in front of Sofia because Julian's light therapy might make Ozs mom go crazy or hurt her and it could also freak out and scare Sofia into giving up some of her power and her vendetta. He's going to show Sofia Sal Maronis ring and tell her he's dead.

I think that wherever Victor is and whatever Victor is doing will play big time in episode 8. It probably will play in the Penguin's "victory" and will possibly place him in the position as Gotham's Crime Lord. Even with Sophia's great Poker hand her position in Gotham is very weak. I would almost argue her position is weaker than Oswald's. I believe that Victor is doing as Oz asked, gathering an army. Just brain-storming here, but Victor could be using this time to gather the troops under his leadership. I doubt it but who knows. When we were introduced to Mrs. Cobb I thought her days were numbered. I could see Victor ending Oz's mother's life. We shall see next week.

I'm torn between the idea of Francis surviving the series or not. On the one hand, as long as she's around, Oz has a strong motive to build his crime empire so he can finally get her that "deluxe apartment in the sky" (remember The Jeffersons?). On the other hand, if Sofia kills her, Oz's vengeance will become exponential. It's hard to know at this point which drives Oz more: his desire to please his mother, or his desire to elevate himself. It seems that each motive feeds the other.

Sophia’s not going to kill Francis, she’s going to take Francis from Penguin, but she’s not going to kill her. She’s going to make her hate her son. They showed us Oz was responsible for his brother’s deaths in this episode on purpose. I think they’re setting up the reveal to his mother about what he did. Having his mother hate him will be more painful than her dying. If she does die next episode, it will be because Oz did it after she says she hates him. he’ll justify it by thinking she lost her mind and that he asked him to do it last episode. but deep down he will know, it will eat away at him. And that’s how Sophia plays her game. That’s why she didn’t kill the escort. She revealed the truth about Oz hiding who killed her girls. Sophia made her hate Oz. And they have shown us last thing Oz wants is to be seen as a nobody, a nothing, a loser, by the women in his life.

@@AREA-jp8vb Well, yes... WE were shown the fate of Oswald's brothers. But, at best, only Oswald himself knows what really happened. And even he can only infer that the rising water level in the storm sewer drowned the boys. The bodies were never found (at least that's the story so far). So I can't see how Sofia is going to turn Francis against her remaining son. One thing this series has done superbly, though, is show us an alternate storyline for many of Gotham's characters. It follows the established "canon" (I use the word loosely here), but takes a lot of interesting "other" roads. Which is okay, considering we're working with some 85 years worth of Batman lore in all its weird, wild, and wonderful variations. I'm hard pressed to think of another superhero (DC, Marvel, or anyone else) with such a rich backdrop of location, supporting & minor characters, and story possibilities. All we can do here is wait until next Sunday to find out how the season winds up. So far they're 7-for-7, and frankly I don't think anybody is going to be disappointed by the end of Episode 8.

@ Sophia doesn’t have to actually reveal anything, all she has to do is put a seat of doubt in Francis’s head during one of her episodes. or exploring a less likely option, the therapist could implant that memory into Francis’s head. I mean, we haven’t seen what he does yet, they’ve hinted that he can do something, and I’m assuming it involves that red light. Maybe somehow he exposes the secret through hypnosis. Any ways it’s all just fun theories, Whatever they do it’s going to be amazing! But I still think Sophia will not kill Francis, She knows that Oz losing the love and acceptance of his mother would be worse than losing her to death. It’s the only thing that drives Oz, the love and acceptance of other people and the number one being his mother. Fuck, these characters are so well written! 😂

The genius of this show that the penguin is far the most evil and disloyal character. He can only be a protagonist because we see how he cares about Vic and his mother. When they die we will have no sympathy for him at all and that’s a perfect way to make him a serious fearsome batman villain

Oz is a pathological liar, and I’ll be surprised if he isn’t the reason Vic gets killed. The writings on the wall after this episode. If the point is to make us hate The Penguin by the time Part 2 rolls around, then having oz kill Vic would do it. At least for myself. Seems like an even more troubling psychological enemy for Batman than just a simple mob boss.

I’m torn I feel like this show paid off the promises of Gotham. Did a great job of giving us a a Gotham mob war. With movies like the joker I don’t really see Oz having anything that truly makes him a threat. If not for the heart attack penguin would be dead. This episode just confirmed what a deplorable character Oswald is. Part of me feels like he should be treated like Joker in his sequel: in that he should not make it out alive. Leaving Sophia to be the character that transitions into the sequel.

Penguin cant rise with Sofia around. Therefore Penguin and Sofia cant co exist. She must die or go back to Arkham. Vic would be a total waste if hes killed why would they do this? Makes zero sense. Vic comes up under Penguin and becomes big time big shot. Julian snaps and becomes some psycho villian at Sofia dying. Otherwise why even have HIS character. Deaths should only happen to FURTHER the plot, not just for kicks. They did so much character development on VIC which has not paid off at all. No way he dies.

Oz is the OG freak lol. Oz was born that way. Sofia was made. Oz's mom gave him purpose in his insanity. He's a serial succeeder crazy like Riddler but a different purpose. I don't think he meant to kill them, not realizing the storm was going to be bad and it was going to flood. I hope they revisit this in the finale and shows him as a kid going back to the place and finding them dead and feeling guilt, then the need to hide the truth from his mother.
