When non-reality (ego, the dashboard) encounters reality (Awareness, the world outside), the ego melts into a soup leaving Awareness alone (yourSelf). So Bernardo is correct, the ego-you is eliminated, yet your true-Self can never be eliminated and is therefor left shining as eternal infinite Awareness.

Perception implies just the input side of what the brain does. A more complete view is that it is all about control. We translate inputs into outputs such as to make future inputs more conducive to our survival and reproduction. What we are actually aware of consciously of is a subset of our control rules and their parameters.
