Was there even a cut or edit in this? Amazing dissemination of knowledge and what you wanted to say. Thank you. I'm just now getting into black powder revolvers. The 1858 Remington New Model Army in brass in en route as I type (should be another day or two). I'm so excited for it, not only to shoot, but just to look at and admire its beauty.

My grandfather had an old .36cal and I remember shooting it as a kid. I would love to have it now. I have been recently looking into getting a .44 cal Navy or Remington. Thanks for the insite...

When I started out in the late 60s with brass frames I blew the barrel off gun, oh didn't know how to load them but I got a Remington at the gun show . Made in 1963 it's been with me ever since. I took your information about cutting grooves in the pen . That's the problem I have with it. I do have a dragoon 2 model . From that 70s shoot that all day with no problem because it's like a millstone keeps on rotating! But it's getting old .! Like it owner.?

Great video. Any thoughts or experiences on how those beautiful old C&B revolvers compare to modern handguns in terms of safety, accidents, things to avoid etc, especially when using as a field or camping gun? Thanks again.

Just watched the gray ghost series, and came up with questions/ comments: First, I started a long time back with the c&b revolvers and found them to work well with care. With that what would you think of one for a gray ghost?

I miss the one I used to have...might even have gotten it off of you, not sure. Was a long time ago. An unfinished kit gun someone had bought and never finished. I traded or sold it off way back when.

i just think the stainless remington 1858 is one of the most beautiful weapons ever. and i am also a firm believer that its not the tool that counts, but the man.

You know ya it’s nice to have the latest and greatest. But you just can not beat the look and feel of the big iron. it is handy as hell plus it is not as off putting as caring a modern weapon. It’s just enough to get the job done.

I have an 1858 Rem. New Army (Pietta) .44, 5.5" bbl. I have a shoulder rig for it and would like to carry it concealed from time to time. It wears comfortably. My question. How long can I leave the cylinder loaded and still be effective if I need to fire the pistol ? ie... 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years ? Thanks for your insight on this matter.

the powder should be fine for a few yrs..but i would change caps say every month and every 2 weeks in the summer due to humidity ..safe journeys

Do you do a video on the ballistics of these revolvers? I've seen a rather wide range of velocity spreads, particularly in the .36 cals. One guy gets a little over 720+ fps with a ball and says at 15 to 18 gns it's pretty much at full capacity load. Another fellow in the comments section was telling me that the '51 navy can send it down the barrel at 1100fps and easily dispatch one's assailant at an incredible 200yds! I don't yet have a c&b revolver nor a chronograph so I cannot verify these amazing facts(who needs a modern ctg. arm with ballistics like that?!) What kind of power is possible for the .36 caliber guns? Are some of these 'facts' exaggerations?

About what range do you practice at ? I've got my load in a 8 inch new army tuned in on 30 gr but it's shooting low at 20ish yrds. But it has adjustable sights so I can ease em up a little at a time. I'd like to get it on at 25 yards
