We've filmed a few micro weddings this year and loved every minute, having the opportunity to be part of a more intimate celebration. Best of all, we've witnessed couples feeling completely fulfilled by their experience, with absolutely no regrets.
Kristen and Billy were a perfect example of how a couple can make the most a smaller wedding. Despite the fact that there were few restrictions (we actually filmed this wedding on the same weekend as the Kurtz Orchards wedding we posted recently), they had decided to stick to a plan that they had come to peace with, and were looking forward to.
The day was incredibly personal, with a church ceremony conducted by an old family friend. They then headed to Preto loft for a photoshoot with their bridal party before they led us on a walk around their favourite neighbourhood in Toronto. After that, they hopped back into their cherry red Mustang and returned to Kritsen's parents house for a small reception.
You can see in the film that their reception was relaxed, fun and easy going. We hopped over their fence for a few sunset portraits on the golf course, enjoyed some amazing food and listened to some beautiful speeches, that I think were more poignant because of the smaller size of the wedding. I think that's something we've really noticed in smaller weddings - couples and speech givers are able to speak to people, and not just a "crowd".
Anyway, I think the film speaks for itself - you can see how much these guys loved their day, and Kristen's opening speech sums up what this is all about. We always do our best to personalize every wedding film to a couple, and sometimes these smaller weddings give us more opportunity to do that.
