I finally got the perfect badger photo! And in this weeks' vlog I will show you how I made that, using camera trapping techniques for wildlife photography. Last week I showed you how I scouted this location with a game camera. Now I will show you what equipment I used to setup the camera trap, and what decisions I made and why. It all resulted in an amazing photo I am so happy with!

Hey Jeroen, I can see why your family wanted that photo on your wall. What a great photo! It looks like the trigger worked out well and I am sure it was a exciting moment when you checked your camera. Fun video for sure! Greg

That's a great shot Jeroen. I can just imagine your face when you spotted the second badger in the shot, behind the tree. Well done.

Well done Jeroen. That is the perfect result for your vision, planning and execution. As you mentioned, finding a sett that is photogenic is one of the hardest parts of badger photography. I have an image in mind at a local sett which like yours involves an attractive tree but i also want to include some sky through the branches. As it is not an active entrance (the overall sett is definitely active) it is going to involve some baiting for a little while. So, I have the image envisioned and now I need to do some more active planning, then follow your example and get off my backside to execute it!!!! Nice one.

Hey Jeroen, Some thoughts for your Q&A. What is your favourite subject? Firstly by genre and then individually (birds/ mammals/ landscapes etc) then favourite bird, mammal etc. You are very proficient at camera trapping and use it as a tool in your armoury. Do you find it any more or less satisfying than being actually present behind the camera at the time of exposure? It seems a large part of photography these days involves a lot of post processing on the computer. Do you think there is a place for manipulation in wildlife/nature photography? As a KZbin creator your videos are quite "mobile". Do you prefer a more mobile approach to wildlife photography or would you prefer a more static hide based approach. All the best. Robert

Some excellent questions Robert! Especially on being mobile and the contradiction with this type of photography. I will get into that!
