@geo1248 yes, then you pay. As a true beginner, you will struggle. You may be able to do it but you won't learn the material in 7 days. That's if you don't have a life...work. kids, etc. It took me a month and a half. What's $80? If you have time, do it. I work full time, grown kids. I had the time. Alot of information. Good though.

I started the Google IT Support and Cybersecurity courses simultaneously, and so far, I've completed the first two courses of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, along with the first course of the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. Right now, I'm halfway through the second course in the Google Cybersecurity track. Being a CSE student myself, I feel these are good courses. And I've even seen the interview bits of people much senior in their career, who have changed their career from something else to IT and security and their most popular choices were GOOGLE IT AND CYBERSECURITY. Even the courses are good. They, for sure, provide good insights. I feel they are really gonna help in building my career in IT and Cybersecurity. Although, they don't guarantee a job offer but they certainly give you an unfair advantage as you got the tag of GOOGLE in your resume. Along with that, I must recommend you to have some unique and real world problem solving projects. They can be from any internship, group projects or even standalone projects. But the important part is they should be applicable in real world scenarios. The projects can be as small as detecting incoming malware in a port and you don't even need to deploy the project in a website or make a software out of it. What matters is, your program should run efficiently. At the end, the course (GOOGLE Cybersecurity Professional Cert.), it's a great stepping stone, if you opt for a career in cybersecurity. It gives you an intermediate level of understanding of Computer Networking and in general, it teaches you about major domains of cybersecurity. After this course, you might be able to choose a particular domain, where you want to build your career and then pursue that same field 🙂.

I am about to finish my AS in IT to then move into a BS in cyber security but the teachers at my local community college are lackluster. Would yall recommend that I pause my BS to do this certificate thats not only a cheaper alternative but also has real world experience?

I would recommend doing both, which can be extremely challenging. Alot of content and a lot of time. What you may want to do is not pause, but slow down. Take one less class, and fill that timeslot with the Google Certificate. As a hiring manager, a certificate alone is unlikely to get a job. Having only a degree is unlikely to get you job. Having a degree, certificate/ certifications, and a portfolio of labs that demonstrate your practical skills will get you a job.
