@@meyerdigitalfilm FX6 has internal ND's which is cool, but the FX3 IBIS which to me is a reasonable trade off. Lots of key differences, but Samuel is right. If I had the choice, I'd like to have the option to make it light and travel able if need-be depending on the project etc!

This is way more affordable than the Cineback, which in Australia is $450! My question is: what does this do better than the usual rig with a cage and rails only? If the goal is to mount added accessories, what are they? A monitor, side and top handle, and v-mount all work without the extra cheese plate housings. Plus, it's way more fuss to remove the camera from the rig if I want to change to a gimbal or run it without all the accessories like for travel or quick shots.
@AINEET Жыл бұрын
Not to diss Samuel as I respect his build a lot more than the cashgrab that cineback is BUT --- That's what's been driving me crazy. This is just a youtuber fad that puts aesthetics before functionality. The "cineback" setup is absolutely worse than the standard cinema rig for the FX3. You are quite literally adding useless weight, locking your camera between two cheeseplates and bolting it into the rig, you gain *nothing* other than a bunch of mounting points which you never needed with the normal cinema setup and blocking the audio handle contact. Heck, most of the cheese plate is blocked by the handle so there isn't even a point to most those mounting points.
@samuelrayy Жыл бұрын
This is just one of the option. everyone set up and need are different. what work for you might not work for others. What good about this is it's reversible, and the extra weight actually help with stabilization when film handheld. But I have to agree with you the real downside is you unable to use the audio handle, other than that I love this set up.

With a set up like this, how long does your 99Wh power your entire rig?
@AtomicPixel Жыл бұрын
I have the 50w one and it powers my portkeys pt6 monitor with intermittent charging of the camera battery -- I get about 4 hours so I swap the battery at half day of a wedding. I use the 50w to keep the weight down. I would think using the 99, you could go at least 8 hours for monitor and trickle charging battery ( I use usbc rather than dummy battery for redundancy)

I used to rig my cam but i dont enjoy it. In the end you still don't get the ergonomic buttons fx6 gives you. The cam body is still too small for fast operation and the rig gets in the way. I'm using fx6 as A cam and the naked fx3 is purely for gimbal.
@samuelrayy Жыл бұрын
I love FX6. It's such a great camera; hopefully, they bring some of those features to FX3 Mark 2. I rigged this camera so that I could use it for a certain shoot. The weight does help stabilize when shooting handheld. The good thing about this is I can always strip it down and have a small compact cinema camera

I totally get that it's fun to build out kits but I'm confused, this kit all together costs more than an FX6, except with this rig you have no builtin VNDs, no proper XLR audio, and it still lacks the button layout of a true box camera. I bought my FX6 for $4800 used on Ebay, full kit. An average FX3 build , after you buy every single part, including cables, mounts, adapters, etc, costs about $5200, AT THE LOW END. That's WITHOUT a proper XLR audio or VND solution. Also an FX6 won't have cable management issues. I love the build though, I just wish it was less expensive, that way it could be justified! I added up even all the kit components in this video and it came to nearly $5000 in total, and like I already addressed, no built-in VNDs, or XLR audio.
