Here’s a great way to perfect how to hold the club…. Practice one-handed swings with both hands separately. You’ll find it impossible to have any control, or leverage, if not holding it properly(in the fingers). You’ll also figure out how strong or weak both hands need to be to set the club properly, and start your ball online.

Hi Todd, Dennis from Ocala Florida. I wanted to leave this here as I wrote an email to VLS but have not received a response. I ordered the Maxvert and gave it a great chance. However I still hit my Calloway Rogue much better, much straighter. I also cannot return it because I had total confidence that it would be great, and because I have very large hands, I got a larger grip put on! I am hitting my Rogue straighter, longer, and more consistent with your instruction.

Dennis, thank you for reaching out. Keep the MaxVert as a back up. It is a solid club for those times when your driver is not working. Great to hear you are seeing progress with the videos...more to come my friend.

Thx for the video. I do everything you said related to gripping the club. Lately, my arthritis has weakened my hands and I have been putting the trigger finger on my right hand down the back part of the shaft for stability. Seems to work for me. Any thoughts?

Todd, good question. Having stability and a feeling of control in the hands is important. If moving the finger down the shaft provides that, I would suggest you continue. Appreciate you posting...

Hi Todd. Writing to you from snowy Montreal; great time of year to work on fundamentals like a good grip. You mention that the thumbs should be snug and short. Can you detail where on the shaft the thumbs should be? Inline with the shaft or to one side etc? Love your instruction style and channel.

I tend toward being a hooker. My current hybrid-iron set have a fair amount of offset. How does this affect my grip. Should I try a more neutral grip to "offset" the "offset"?

If your tendency is to hook, the off set may not be the best. Would also check your bottom hand grip. Maybe too strong.

I'm also finding the the amount of grip strength applied by both hands, makes a big difference for me. I gave up on the "hold club like a baby bird" grip and went back to my baseball playing days. I have much more control when I grip firmly with both hands, but keep my wrists and shoulders supple. Thanks again for another great video.

I’m going to try this tomorrow, I’ve been struggling with my grip that I’m very frustrated and considered to call a day on golf. I end up wrapping my right hand fingers around the club, no connection to my left hand and my thumb down the right side, then of course, every ball goes left. Two months ago, all was working, though a poor grip, the issue worked into my game as I tried to Hold the club in my fingers. Fingers (no pun) crossed for tomorrow.

My pro has been trying to get me to do this for years! 90% of my bad shots come from a poor grip and My glove shows lots of wear in the heel pad.
