Imagine starving to death thinking you’ll die in a Japanese camp. You hear the faint sound of planes, look up, and see the sky littered with parachutes. Some American DAWGS came to get you out.

My uncle was a glider pilot in WWII. They had a high mortality rate, but those remaining after the war were close the rest of the lives.

The Blue Angels are The US Navy's "Demonstration Team." The US Air Force also has one called The Thunderbirds.

There’s an old Hagar the Horrible comic where Hagar climbs his way up a mountain to talk to a wiseman. Hagar brags about all the people he fought who were keeping him from enlightenment, and then asks for wisdom. The wiseman says “Be kind to those you met on your journey up the hill, because they are the same ones you will meet going down.”

My great grandfather Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Olson US Army was in the Philippines when the Japanese showed up. He was then sent to a Japanese Hellship the Oryoku Maru when it was attacked by US Navy Hellcats from the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier. Ship sunk in the harbor and he was then snatched out of the water and put on another Hellship the Brazilian Maru. It was attacked yet again by American navy personnel and he died somewhere on the way to mainland Japan. He was posthumously awarded the Sliver Star because some of the survivors said he always put himself in front of his men when the japs would come below deck to beat the POW’s and he would always say he’s their commanding officer and they will not beat his men they will beat him etc etc etc….. They said my great grandfather didn’t want to see his men get hurt so he would always take the beating for his men. We never recovered his remains. His son went on to become a Colonel as well. My great grandfather was also a West Point Graduate and his legacy lived on through both his sons my grandfather and my great uncle both serving one a Captain in the Navy and my great uncle a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force as a Pilot with combat experience. Loved the video reactions from all of the Fat Electrician videos!!

24:36 you have to forgive them they're game devs, not historians. Also from a gameplay design standpoint one of these operations where everything goes smooth is less appealing than one where Murphy's Laws were in full effect. Consider the most horribly overused ww2 shooter stage ever Omaha Beach. There were 5 landing zones. Omaha is used because it was the biggest shitshow of the 5 everything that could have gone wrong did. For reference there were around 10,000 casualties in the Normandy invasion, Omaha is responsible for anywhere between 50% to nearly all of that. Meanwhile you have Utah beach only taking ~200, sword ~700, gold ~1000, and Juno ~1000.

41:34 Nooooooo lol okay, my opinion. We need games like Hell Let Loose, Squad, Enlisted, etc. only like on console as well as PC. Those games are kicking Call of Duty’s butt because you end up playing with a team of like 40 people who’ve picked what role they wanna play, and are ready to team up and kick ass.
