Hi Steve ! Im currently using my Helix lt with a V30 1x12 cabinet on stage powered by a Harley Benton gpa 100. It sounds barely good but i woder if I could get a much better sound with this amped or a Seymour Duncan. Does a better Poweramp impact the sound of the real cabinet and the modeler? Hope you can do a comparison video of harley Benton, SD and Amped 1
@Nomanspie10 ай бұрын
Its cheaper than the Powerstage and has options for working as a power amp or as a full rig with pre and power amp sections. Also has 1, 20 and 100 watt selector and a bunch of other features not found on a pure power amp. So you're getting the same thing, plus more. And...personal opinion, it looks better on your board with the nice classy matt white.

The name is strangely close to the Bluguitar Amp1. Which I gig with. Actually thinking of adding the black star tube overdrive to it The overdrive has many of the same preamp and power amp sims and xlr out to the board. With a tube in pre. The Amp 1 has a great tube power amp combined with class D 100W. AMP1 is also very reliable and sounds great on its own.

This looks like a great start from Blackstar but they should have put more preamp options in there and allowed MIDI control to really push this over the edge. I'll definitely check it out though.
@SteveSterlacci2 жыл бұрын
It does have midi control! I have all the modelers, so i dont really need more preamps personally. I am a MIDIot, so I am not much help there 😅
@neighbourhoodmusician2 жыл бұрын
@@SteveSterlacci Oh cool. I need to download the manual and find out. I use a Mooer Preamp Live as my main live tone generator, using midi from the Mooer to control what poweramp type is active on the Blackstar would be great. The extra preamps would just be useful to have as a backup, in case my main board fails and this would become my only option. I assume that Blackstar is just using the same technology here that they use for the ID/Silverline amps, so it shouldn't be to hard to do. Would you mind doing a video exploring the idea of pairing modeller preamp or amp sims with the poweramp models on this pedal maybe?

Interesting product but I think my HX Stomp does everything this does except the power amp. I bought a $20, clean 100w solid state amplifier on Amazon for that. I go from the HX Stomp (modeled pre and power amp, no speaker) to my $20 power amp and into a 2x12 guitar cab. It sounds pretty awesome. I can turn the volume up/down without any tone change except for how the speakers react at different volumes.

$20 100w solid state ? What amp is that I'm interested
@neighbourhoodmusician2 жыл бұрын
This seems more like it'll be a useful solution for live work, where those cheaper solid state options won't perform adequately. The valve emulations are interesting too for adding a bit more "life" and feel into modelling tunes for stage volume. Not to mention the cab rig stuff.
@swmorgan51510 ай бұрын
If I'm understanding right, the "voice" section of controls is a built-in amp sim (VOX / Fender) and the eq controls to the right are only for that. "Flat" Disables that part, and essentially turns this into a power amp only, correct? Is the eq section at the top also disbled when that is on "flat"?

I guess I don’t really understand why you’d run an amp modeler through an amp and cab set up. What is the function of that?
@SteveSterlacci2 жыл бұрын
A lot of modeling users want to have stage volume and the feel of a real amp behind them when they play. This gives way more options to do so. I believe all the current power amps are just powering a cab. This lets you tailor the sound a lot more to your liking
@joshshultz12502 жыл бұрын
Because I'm not a fan of the FRFR sound. It's neat but it doesn't cut the way a traditional setup setup does. However, the value of having a modeler with all of it's effects, and scene planning, and being able to use it as the preamp essentially just cuts out the need to try out a million different pedals and real amp heads. Also, I can use the modeler to record as an interface, but also use it live. I run it through a fryette powerstation for live situations so I get the best of both worlds between traditional and contemporary. It's great.
