The Perfect Pulse Rifle for the Average Player?

In this episode of Five Games With, we'll be taking the old 5 round burst Pulse Rifle, Vigilance Wing, into the Crucible for a few matches. This weapons damage profile has shifted with the new PvP sandbox, and it was given deterministic recoil recently. Does this launch exotic still hold up? My perspectives and my experiences lie within! This thing is the perfect beginner weapon in the crucible. I remember how I was about to pull my hair out when I started out pvp. This thing and my time worn with moving target and iron grip were the only two weapons whiche made it remotely tolerable.. I still play these two in threes. They can't stand their ground against the most meta picks but I for one can still comfortablly stay above 1.0 in every lobby with them.

It really is a solid starter gun for players! Like you said, it may not have the shear lethality of other options, but it finds its strength in consistency and reliability. Time-Worn Spire is a weapon that I haven't heard mentioned in a long time! That gun put in a lot of work for me over the years, and I'm happy to know there's someone else out there that still holds it in high regards. 😁🍻

@@IronworkerGaming I absolutely love my time worn. Every time I suck at pvp and I can't put anything together I pull out that gun and I just start clicking. I have no idea why, it isn't even a super good roll but I love that thing to death.

Hey now, five games from a cold start is just a warm-up! Personally I think Vigilance Wing is surprisingly strong right now and will only get better with the 450 Precision AR nerf next week. 🍺

Haha, very true. Only hopping in for 5 matches always leaves me wanting to play more! Maybe I should allow my self a few games to get things rolling! 😅 It will be interesting to see how things shake out once 450s get knocked down a touch. It very well could boost Vigilance Wing up! 👍🍻

Such a solid gun, the number one thing I reccomend to my friends that aren't good at positioning or ability use yet. They can focus on getting better when vigilance wing is standing by em consistent and reliable, as it does.

Nice review, and nice "lamp (6:01)" xd. I have a hunch that pulse riffle will be antibarrier next season. So Vigilance Wing could be an interesting idea. And don't worry for the matches. I sometimes think that new guardians play better than me hahaha

what is needed is a weapon for the people with slower reflexes and response times that can somehow still stay competitive without horribly dying EVERY TIME. I like Iron Banner because those with slightly lower light levels actually take a bit longer to kill me which at least gives me a chance compared to say competitive. Insta-kills do not make for fun and basically allows PVP to be ONLY for those who are VERY good. Even good players can't like that mode. At least in PVE I can at least help out in group activities even if not a top tier player.

PvP in D2 can definitely be rough. Even for me as someone who once was moderately ok on this side of the game, it's really hard just to keep my head above water. 👍👍

revision zero is also a super nice feeling pulse rifle and the sniper shot can 1shot anyone in a well or bubble if you get a headshot

I wasn't a huge fan of Revision Zero when it first released, but I will say, I have been warming it up to it over time. I don't think that I have the skill to make it preform on it's highest level, but overall it is a very useful weapon! 👍👍

Do hard light next! Just remember to swap to either arc or solar when you respawn as void gives 0 benefits (bonus points for using it with knucklehead radar for wallhacks ricochet kills and high ae)

V-Wing is a beast. Try bad juju as well I think it’s an interesting pick in this new sandbox.

Running less than 30 mobility could have some minor effect on strafing speed, although the movement speed from vigilance wing could even it out from time to time 🙂

I do tend to run lower mobility most of the time. I generally do like to come in above T3 though. Maybe it's in my head, but playing just one step down at T2 did seem to feel a bit more sluggish. 👍👍

I'm not good at pvp, but I found the Jade Rabbit to be a very good option. Can't go wrong with it.

The last wish legendary bow (tyranny of heaven) is so much fun this season if you have incandescent + dragonfly. Since dragonfly can proc incandescent its actually feels better than sunshot. And i farmed it at Kelly lol it took some times but it was worth it

@@IronworkerGaming i would recommend farming khali for it. (and every other red border too) although it took me over 500 runs to get all of them but when you do. Tyranny of heaven + down chorus and dragon breath is actually feel good in a dawnblade warlock. Its not broken but its fun seeing that your scorch ticking for 10x the damage and ur super does alot of damage too lol. And if u want more ignitions add ember of char to keep them scorch going. Its also feels good with the buffed celestial nighthawk because of the extra super but i know you are not into rolly rolly hunters lol

I've honestly never been a fan of pulse rifles generally. I'll occasionally find one I like decently enough, like Outbreak Perfected, but I pretty much always find myself going back to other weapon types instead, usually either an auto-rifle, full auto side arm, bow, or a scout rifle. Just something about the way burst weapons function doesn't agree with my tendencies I think.

I very much understand! Personal preference is always going to be a huge factor in how a weapon performs. My friends often give me a lot of crap for not liking special GLs, but they're just a weapon type that I don't get along with! 👍🍻

Yeah I had a similar experience with messenger yesterday I love the gun but in this meta it just wasn’t working I’d get sprayed down with teabagging auto spamming players or picked off with scouts at the back. It just seemed in an awkward spot, it was great with not the best players but against more experienced players it was garbage. I then tried jade and did slightly better but didn’t enjoy the optimum play style. So I went with forerunner and shiuras and went off. I know different lobbies etc but that combo seemed less restrictive and a lot better to use. I had the range and forgiveness with forerunner and the mid to close with the smg, low aim assist hard hitting pulses just don’t seem the play atm. In my hands anyway haha I’m only average soooo. Try the load out you won’t regret it

I actually have been using that exact combo as of late! I wasn't too hot on Forerunner, but I started using it a bit more after the special ammo changes and have really started to warm up to it! And I've always loved my Shayura's Wrath. I often refer to it as my "bad day" gun. When things aren't going well, it's usually my best shot at turning it around! 😁🍻

I was never personally bothered by the sights on the base weapon...but the wider posts with the Vigil of St 14 ornament do make things SOOOO much better! 👍👍

@IronworkerGaming I do agree, vit the other sights feel like it's giving you tunnel vision which yes, helps you focus on the opponent infron of you. But it could hide the second on either on your left or right. Either way, though, the gun is fun to use but will take time to get used to if ya used 3 bursts.

Yeah, it just got deterministic recoil now so you can learn how it recoils and hopefully use it more efficiently. That's the idea anyways I guess. Coolguy made a really indepth video about deterministic recoil and some guns lean hard left with an 85 recoil now.... like wtf.

I am no longer a fan of the new recoil. It's ruined a few of my best guns with strong horizonal recoil no matter what I change.

I see no point in recommending this to new players. Handcannon aim assist is still way higher than any other primary weapon making them a lot easier to use (less forgiving if you miss, but missing is harder plus they'll get better over time).

I personally struggled with hand cannons for years. It wasn't until I forced myself to use them for a period of time that I became somewhat proficient with them. They are the quintessential Destiny weapon class, but there is a developed knack to using them in my opinion. 👍👍
