We're continuing the start of our new mid-size American city in Easthaven County, Massachusetts! In this episode, we start out by analyzing our current service and utilities situation and expanding them where necessary to prepare for the first neighborhoods to be built in the new city. After securing adequate coverage (well, sort of), we dive straight into it by building a major hospital which we customize through the assets editor, as well as creating a custom central train station by clever use of signature buildings, before finally developing the very first neighborhoods of the city! Hope you enjoy!

Hi, Water engineer here. For your waterpumping station, we would never build it underneath or close to a high traffic road. One of the reason being the possibility of an accident on the road involving trucks carrying chemicals or hazardous materials that could pollute the ground water close to the pumping station that would be directly pumped and delivered in your drink water network.

Its unfortunate that in CS2 the capacity of the network is bottlenecked by the road size, so if he doesnt install it on a large main road then the plants become less efficient.

So 2 ideas: 1. I recommend having the hill look something like Beacon Hill in Boston -- a lot of super old brownstones on narrow streets. It's also a super wealthy neighborhood, which would make sense because on the map it's super close to the city and has amazing ocean views. You can also add a park on the side facing the city similar to the botanical gardens in Boston -- it would provide a clear barrier between neighborhoods. 2. You should use the inner city elementary school. Although it is quite large, you can stitch a glass skyscraper or taller building on top. You see this a lot in Massachusetts where they will build skyscrapers on top of older brick buildings (plus it would look super cool!).

Coleridge is named for the Cole family - specifically, William Henry Cole. A wealthy business tycoon and philanthropist, he made his fortune with Cole’s Canning Co. one of Chowder Bay’s first and most successful companies. His descendants (specifically Emily Hawthorne-Cole) started the Cole Foundation and made major donations to the city allowing for major additions to the hospital and elementary school as well as the preservation of Sterling Lake.

Suggestion for the row houses - Add some alleys between the houses, if you look as the South End and Back Bay in Boston, most of the rowhouse streets have alleys with parking between them. Also, for the peninsula by Winter, I think you should try to make an old super tight neighborhood like the North End or Beacon Hill in Boston, both have buildings that mostly date from the early 19th century and are popular tourist draws with main streets that have a ton of cool shops and restaurants and outdoor seating.

The hill at the small peninsula you intentionally left out of any district so far - by citizens simply called "The Hill" - has a historic signalling post atop it that was used in the olden times to communicate from shore to the ships in the bay. It is being kept in operation by enthusiats of the local historic society and actually displays the message "Welcome, guest. Contact harbour master upon docking!" on special days (as this was the usual greeting in this harbour for any new ship back in the days). Around it is a big green space that overlooks both the bay and the city that is used as a picknick/BBQ location by day and as a bit of a love island at night. Sometimes there are even temp stages and other moveable equipment for special occasions. So if you ever visit [name pending], you should definitively visit The Hill. It is historic, scenic and recreatinal at the same time! Plus, there's always icecream...

I work in electrical transmission and distribution, and you wouldn't step up street supply to transmission towers to supply a new city (although it's still cooler than just getting power from the street), you'd run new transmission lines at a very high voltage from a transmission substation to a zone substation, (or several transmission lines and substations) and supply the street from the zone substations to pole and kiosk substations, but that's so in depth, there's no storm water ways in this game either.

Hey, I'm from the greater Boston area and I think you have a great opportunity to make this area more like Boston, I believe you reclaimed land in your video before this one. Boston is known for its construction on reclaimed land. over the centuries Boston has reclaimed large areas of land to make the layout as unique as it is today. You can still see some evidence of the old shores line on Cambridge St, New Cardon St. and Commercial St. First Street in South Boston runs along the original shoreline of Boston and the biggest area that was reclaimed was back bay which has a formal grid layout. In a future video maybe you can do the same. When is comes to street names some areas were named after the indigoes tribes that habituated the land prior to colonization. Keep up the great content. Here is some more fun facts about the reclamation The South End Much of the South End is built on landfill that was once a tidal marsh. The Neck In the early 19th century, the Neck was a strip of land that connected downtown Boston to Roxbury and the mainland. King Street This was the center of Boston's maritime traffic. Mashauwomuk The Massachusett people knew that the marshes around the peninsula, also known as Mashauwomuk (or Shawmut), were home to thriving fisheries.

Backstory for Cozy St Edward Cozy was an American sailor in the early 1800s. Just before the War of 1812 he was captured by the British as part of their act of impressment. Upon hearing of the breakout of the war, he led a mutiny with 40 other sailors, sinking 2 British ships at the docks in Halifax before returning to Easthaven county aboard the captured Saint Vincent. (Perhaps cozy st could lead to the Saint Vincent docks - also perhaps a statue of Edward cozy is in order)

Newt Smith was a black smith that set up his horseshoe and nail forge near the iron-rich rocks he found near the lake when the archipelago was first settled. Over the centuries people've sought out Newt Island for work, lodging, and industry until its now become an economic hub hosting a bustling financial district encircling Forge Park, Newt's historic plot of land. I recommend naming the new city Newt City :) (Kinda a joke, kinda seriously :P)

Leading up to and during the American Revolution, Cape Cod was raided by British warships. A man named Joseph Dimmick formed a militia and led counter raids to harass the British. On April 2, 1779 the British were drinking at a tavern on an island off of Cape Cod and were plotting to burn the town of Falmouth the following evening. The tavern owner, John Slocumb, sent his son to warn others. The word got to Dimmick and preparations began to ward off the attack. Over the next few days, battle ensued and the British fleet slowly broke up and headed away from the cape. I would suggest naming the empty hill area Dimmick Hill and making a national park as a location that Dimmick and his men fought the British. Winter should be renamed Slocumb in honor of the man who passed along information that led to the locals being able to successfully fight the British fleet. For the sake of East Haven's story, we could pretend that Slocumb's tavern was in this city or that it was this town instead of Falmouth that the British intended to burn.

Great stuff bud! Love it so much😊 I like the look really much. Interested to see how you lay down the transition in the city eventually 😅 and for that hill, maybe back in a day it was a starting point of the city with a small fortress established by Brits back in 17th century. With years the water level was dropping and the city was growing, so eventually there was not enough space for everybody and they moved the expansion to Downtown, which by that time already had established train facility. Now the hill remains a historic heritage with an old fortress and old town vibes, narrow streets and all that comes with that. In the tourist guides They call this area “Fort Hill”.

I haven't finished the video yet - I'm at 38:00 roughly - but the triangle within the newly christened Coleridge neighborhood between Fawn Street and the ocean really screams an old decrepit industrial neighborhood that is in the process of gentrifying into an upscale hip expensive area close-in to downtown. I don't know why - I think it's just the location and the nice pretty triangle that makes a natural district boundary. I don't know what you end up doing with it but I think that would be fun.

Also if the posh area off to the side is going to be called Queen's Cape, I think it should be Queens Cape, without an apostrophe. I don't have factual evidence for this, but my personal experience in America has been that when there's reference in some name to monarchy, it tends to have lost its apostrophe and stopped really being seen as an actual reference to an actual monarchy - most famously Queens, of course, and Kings County (AKA Brooklyn).

I wonder if you could use small row homes or medium density buildings to make your hill look like Beacon Hill in Boston. Maybe create some super narrow pedestrian roads to wind up the hill?

That Forest hill that youre unsure what to do with, I reckon would be a perfect park for the city, especially seeing as there is so much density in the town, so maybe it could be a nature reserve of some kind?

It looked like when creating the new hospital asset you didn’t select the treat injuries and treat diseases boxes that the regular vanilla hospital has, kind of defeats the purpose of a hospital without those lol

noticed that the garbage accumulation for the custom hospital has a value of 600, while the original hospital only has a value of 60. this might be the problem with the garbage?

That area does not look significantly large enough to require a power line when you could have it in/under the bridge by adding lights to the highway

I'm still playing the first game and man the buildings have gotten a good upgrade. In the first one are cartoonish and I had to download lots of things to make it realistic, since putting vegetation and embellishing the city takes lots of time and still doesn't really look realistic. I mean I'm sure you had to download things too but base game surely got an upgrade on that

Hey you were talking about not wanting an unfair advantage earlier when you change the prices of the hospital. Just a heads up, all your ploppable buildings that you are placing, are not costing you anything to place.

For the hill area, what if it was a similar setup to Coit Tower in San Francisco? That neighborhood is pretty dense 3 story units that go up the hill until the park at the top.
