It's crazy that there are no churches in the game (apart from Notre Dame but that's a big ass cathedral). It's such a staple architectural thing in European and American cities (which the game is literally styled upon), and a center of many of real towns. I really hope custom assets are coming soon.

As a European (Belgium precisely), honestly I can tell you that, for a village, this is a pretty super advanced village. Most of the villages here in Belgium are more of "row houses/appartments" and not that tall, 2 storeys max and 3 if you're lucky. They're usually dense as you built so that's a good point (not all of them though), but not tall and most of the time not super detailed, just a road, a sidewalk and row houses/appartments. They are usually not this colorful as you built, usually just gray, red or white (yeah kinda sad). These colorful ones really look like coast Italian villages actually. The one you built is well detailed, of course, but I find it quite weird because it's dense, has fairly big appartments (yes, these are considered big appartments, or kinda big) but is in a very small place. Usually, this kind of build/village is found as some section of close-to-sea cities in Europe, not as a whole village. The roads are also super narrow most of the time, and that's for any village in Europe. Also the low residential houses are not really found in this kind of dense village, but more as a section apart from the village, like it's its own community and usually extends in a veeery long road. They are also not super common as it's mostly for fairly rich people, the average person lives in a row house because in Belgium they are historical houses for miners and labourers back in industrial revolution and are now very cheap but kinda spacious inside, usually with long gardens.
@skilzthatkilz114 ай бұрын
Oh wow I really appreciate this feedback! Thank you! TBH the moment I placed that first apartment building, I was afraid it looked too tall... Curious, do you have a some European towns in mind I could Google too get a better picture of what you envision?

@@skilzthatkilz11 no problem :) Sure ! You can check out Durbuy in Belgium, that’s a very classical village from old times. For more modern villages you have Florennes, also in Belgium and its little sister next to that village called Morialme (it also shows a little bit of some kind of low residential area, but the houses look more like square 2 stories big blocks, the actual cool houses with nice roofs and spacious area are made for wealthy people and are quite rare). You can also check Jodoigne (Belgium) which looks close to what you built :) but that one is more considered as a big village or small city

I agree that most Belgian and east French villages look very dull and boring. However, if you go to Bavaria or Swabia, or Austria or Switzerland, Italy, Spain, etc. you can see plenty of well maintained, cute and decorative villages like this one. Not that it looks everywhere like this in Europe. Some villages are dying out, getting abandoned, some are thriving and try to keep the tourists at bay. But you need at least one church in that village (I know the base game doesnt include any of churches). European towns and villages are filled with churches. They are everywhere.

I think the village (as a whole) should be named Corazon de Maria (translate to Heart of Maria) Lore: Hidden in the hills of farmland and forests, there sits a tiny 15th century village. Settled by Marco Vasquez the IV, him and his men settled here to get away from the Royals that exiled him. The town was named after his late wife that passed away during The Reconquista. Because of that, the couples' grave sits behind the grand church till this day.

Just 2 recommendations: first one is to homogenize the houses' colors, normally in Spanish colonial town you'll have terracota roofs and most of the houses white or light colors. Second is to have an extension of the town near the train station with some smaller single-family homes, I would have seen that happening when the station was built, a lot of life would happen near the station.

I love the way you do your farms it is very similar to how I would do them in CS1 though with that I would have to plop texture tiles down so I would frame things with lanes and shrubs to hide the square edges. One thing I would have have liked to have seen was less elevated tracks. If you think about the likely development pattern this rail line was probably set in the 19th century as a small rural rail line so most likely would have conformed to the terrain with minimal bridging. The highway would have been built in the 1930s-60s and so I would have liked to have seen the rail set first at ground level and then the highway being build around the already in place infrastructure. That being said it is a minor nit pick in what is a really fun series, hope you keep having fun with the game and content creation.

For the colors of the residential buildings in the old Spanish colonial town, look to Latin America: uniform terra cotta roofs, either uniformly pastel-colored walls (sea foam green, light pink, baby blue, cream, etc) or uniformly vibrant-colored walls (amber, robins egg blue, turquoise, fuchsia, etc.). Take inspiration from places like: Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, etc, or old vestiges of Spanish colonial architecture in the US in places like Florida and California.

@ummmchileanywaysso23084 ай бұрын
@@skilzthatkilz11yeah, I always overdo my rural areas and end up with almost city sized settlements in the middle of farmlands so I get what you mean, no need to go too big. whenever I can't decide what to do with riverbanks I do pedestrian paths, then benches, lights, all that stuff, then get a road right alongside it and zone/plop some eu row houses. In fact, now that we have the road builder mod, you could just make the pedestrian street path-sized, and zone the row houses directly on the riverside. you could add some pathways on the water and make them look like boardwalks to create the illusion of little piers, if it were CS1 you could even put down boat props to make it look like those people access their houses through the river, but it's CS2, so... or do we have boat props in the base game? never bothered checking. but anyway, that's my idea!

Oh nice! Yeah this was a fun one, thanks for suggesting it in the last video! And yes I use the Lumina mod by Nyyoko. I usually set my post-exposure to 0.92, contrast around 30, and saturation around 50. I've played with shadows, midtones, and highlights, but I don't see much of a difference tbh. The other thing that can really make cinematics stand out is the Time of Day setting. Sunrise and sunset always look better imo. For base game settings, I play at 1440p with most settings to High (except shadows to medium or low, otherwise you get a lot of shadow tearing on roads).
