To me your videos are dreams come true, literally. Oftentimes I've had dreams in my sleep similar to your fishing adventures: stunning American scenery, gin clear water, absolute solitude, only the sound of the stream and the birds chirping...the beauty of a trout caught in a small corner or that other even bigger behind a rock ...a zen experience. It reminds me the film " A River runs through It".

I hope you have a lot more of these! Random Hiking Stick = Good / Quality Trekking Pole with Wrist Strap = Better. I'll be 65 in January and I was thinking, "Young Tim would have skipped across those rocks and fallen trees and tip-toed thru the rapids but Old Tim would break an ankle or a hip with the next step." I'm glad you were being careful and cautious and I applaud your balance! Great fish, great scenery!

Ha ha. Same here. I'll be 61 in January. Class of '79. I don't wade the really fast rapids and I have no desire to fish in grizzly territory anymore. But I can still catch more fish than my 20-year old son... for now. 😎

It’s good to know there is still a lot of healthy streams and rivers in the NW. Even with the past poor logging ,grazing and mining practices. I’m not at all against logging ,mining or oil/gas, just bad practices. Even with all the people moving out of California ect. ,there is still plenty of room to roam. Most people never get into backcountry.

I saw one question re: safety/rescue equipment which is on my mind as well-- most mountain and climbing guides these days, as well as solo wilderness travelers ( which you certainly are, much of the time), carry a SPOT locator beacon and/or a Garmin InReach system to get help, if stranded and injured-- clearly even a broken ankle in one of those log jams could make getting out by yourself a tricky proposition. Great vid! Two ideas for better survival of catch and release trout: 1. Use an underwater camera to take your pics with the fish in the water and 2. Use a no-touch catch and release tool, so you never have to handle the fish. TU recommends both of these (never touching the fish and never taking them out of the water) for the best success at survival. I use the "Ketchum Release" tool myself, slides right down the line and unpins the fly effortlessly. Other products work as well, the key being to keep the fish in the water and not touch it. Tight lines!!!
