Glad you didn't hang out with the moose. They can be more cranky than bears. Living in Colorado, I've had plenty of encounters with them--some too close for comfort. I also fish the Yellowstone area, where I've had some close calls with buffalo, black bear, and even a grizzly. I was once chased by an elk at Norris Junction while tourists were snapping pictures. A buck chased me up a hill by the Gardner River in YNP, apparently thinking that I was too close to his harem. None of those incidents happened off the beaten path. I was never inside the recommended safe distance of those animals.

Question, how bad are the tick’s in that area? Beautiful stream with nice fish brother. Spent some time in Rock Springs about 1980 and made a trip up to PineDale area. I was fishing over a bank when I heard my 7 month pregnant wife hollering at me, I ran up the bank and standing about 10 feet away was a huge cow moose. I immediately looked for a calf and didn’t see one and she was just checking her out. That’s one big animal. Backed up to the rig and waited her out so I could get my gear. Funny story and true. Anyway, thanks for the videos and be safe my friend.

Thanks again, great stuff!
@LooknFishy3 жыл бұрын
Polarized lenses area a must. There are a ton of videos on the topic so I've never done one myself but anytime I'm asked I recommend them w/o hesitation. I prefer an amber lens helps pull out contrast in the bottom, or other structure. But also pulls out red in trout, gold in browns, carp and redfish just simply glow. Honestly, I would turn around and walk miles to get my glasses if I forgot them...but they are the last thing I look at before I hike in!

It’s good to be able to watch some flyfishing, here in the UK the season is closed for winter. You have some beautiful water to fish in! Does one permit allow you to fish in all the National Forrest’s?
@GeorgeSemel3 жыл бұрын
All you need is to buy a State Fishing License. In some states like where I live, a trout and salmon stamp. He no doubts bought non-resident fishing and trout stamps if needed for NM, CO, ID, and WY. I live in CT, and I buy a resident fishing license and trout stamp for CT, I also buy licenses for MA, VT, NY, NY, and PA. I will fish within a 500-mile circle of where I live. I can go a little further south and North. North will take me into Canada. South as far down to TN. I got a lot of water to fish, all I need is just the effort to go.
@johnalfresco3 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeSemel Thanks for the info, you are lucky to have so much fishing available for a very reasonable price. In the UK you can pay in the hundreds for a day on one of the top rivers. I belong to a club which is pretty reasonable at just over $200 a year. It took 10 years to get into the club! Hopefully one day I’ll find the time for a trip over the pond!
@LooknFishy3 жыл бұрын

Upon arrival the pilot said theres no way they were going to make it up and over the mountains with that 1500 lb moose loaded on the plane. SVen and Olaf yelled at him and said " What are you talking about?!, we did this same thing last year!" So the pilot said " well alright,". The pilot started the plane and got going, he was going as fast as he could and climbed as high as he could but he crashed the plane on the face of the mountain. Out of the wreckage, Sven, Olaf and the pilot climbed out and thanked God to be alive.
