Kinda funny how you asked when Anakin was going to use the Force during the pod-racing scene. He is actually using the Force throughout the race, just without knowing it, allowing him to see into future by a fraction of a second, allowing him to predict certain things and react accordingly. It's what makes him such a good pilot.
@pattheman3686

Fun Fact - Throughout the whole race you can see Qui Gon placing his hand on Smi's shoulder, right?? Well, he's actually using the Force to keep her at least somewhat calmer. Otherwise she'd be a complete emotional wreck. It's tha same thing he did to Jar Jar in the boat when he tells Jar Jar to "RELAX" to which Obi Wan says "you over Did it."

Adam Harris and at least in the initial scripts they were supposed to have an affair. Dunno when they cut that off from the film, but in one the ads for the phantom menace you can see a scene that didn’t make it into the final cut, where Shmi puts her hand on top of Qui-Gon’s. Also I believe they cast Pernilla August as Shmi because of her chemistry with Liam Neeson.

The comedy, I can take or leave. For me, the appeal of Jar Jar is just how hard he tries despite his constant clumsiness. He's an example of someone who is pure of heart but not a natural hero, and I always appreciate him for that. I suppose I did grow up with the Clone Wars, which shows him having a few more successes than he does in the movies, so he's not as irredeemable to me. But still. I mean, yes, he skews the tone of the movie with his presence, but that just makes it feel more real to me. Not everyone is going to fit perfectly into their roles. And I've never seen any other story where someone accidentally commands part of an army with any success. So it's interesting. I never liked how everyone seems to universally decide he's not worth anything. Other, more evil characters deserve your hatred, or your pity, far more than he does.

Most star wars fans agree that the release order is the best. One reason why it’s better is how the audience at first perceives Vader as a menacing evil character, but then find out that he’s a tragic figure who was a good guy. It’s a lot like Snape from Harry Potter.

9:04 Uh that's not how the force works. XD With training, the Force in a sense helps heighten one's senses and gives them special buffs. Earlier in the film, Qui-Gon comments on how Anakin can "see things before they happen," which explains his unusually quick reflexes. He notes how that's a Force trait and if he had been identified in the Republic, the jedi would have taken him. Anakin is also the only "human" who can podrace. This is because the other species in the race have other qualities and traits that are better than a human being. Everything that Anakin does in the race is through skill alone with the Force assisting him as Passive ability rather than an Active ability. At this point in time, Anakin can't use the Force but he has the means to because of the Midi-Chlorians. After he gets trained, then he can use it actively.

I don't remember if there was a scene in episode 3 like this but George said he wanted to do something Epic without the signature John Williams Score amping up the scene. So instead he focused on amping up the sound of the race by giving an abundance of sounds from everywhere. The pilots, the Roar of the engines, the collisions, even the sounds of the air as they passed in front of the camera. The whole scene was very Sound sensitive. Only at the last minute does George add music the help the scene. George does something similar in Ep. 2, but I'll wait until you guys watch it to talk more about it.

A lot of people try to defend the fact that Rey is mary sue by pointing out all stuff Anakin does in episode 1 saying he's a mary sue too but you actually compare the two it's actually not the same at all. Everything that Anakin does with the force is passive or instinctual and doesn't require any specific Jedi techniques, for example when he is piloting the pod racer or the starfighter he is letting the force guide him without even knowing he's doing it. On the other hand Rey is almost always using active abilities like force push\pull, force levitation, force suggestion or jedi mind trick, force heal, force lightning, etc, and most of these are master techniques which require years of training but she can do them all without training. Conclusion, there is no comparison.

I have a friend who studied fencing for a couple years after the prequels had come out. He said it gave him a new respect for the original trilogy's saber fights. The prequels have beautifully choreographed fights that are fun to watch, but apparently the original trilogy's fights are technically very good. It just doesn't look as fun to watch because it's more like real sword fighting. Regarding JarJar, I'll always defend the idea of the character. The original trilogy had a varied group of characters who could provide both serious and comedic moments. Without Jar Jar, this movie had none. Outside Jar Jar, the only joke made was "You were right about one thing, Master. The negotiations were short." Jar Jar was needed. He was just executed poorly. Also, I maintain the Gungans are an awesome race. Even changed some friends' minds when I played one in the Star Wars RPG.

Most of the cities and landmarks are actually not CGI. It's an annoyingly common misconception that the prequels were all CGI, don't believe it. Otto Gunga? Miniature. Theed? Miniature. Corruscant? Miniature. Mon Espa? An entire village set, still visitable in the Sahara! Theed street scenes? Shot on location in Toscana, Italy. The gungans, Watto, Sebulba and some of the other pod racer pilots are pretty much the only purely CG things in this movie. Everything else was a mixtature or practical and computer wizardry, which why this 20-year-old movie still knocks pretty much every MCU movie flat-on-it's-ass in terms of visuals.

I mean...Jane already knows Natalie Portman is the queen so there's not much lost with him telling her. When I first watched it I knew L&Ls mom was named Padme and a queen so when she appeared as a handmaid I assumed this queen was going to die and Padme would succeed her.

What you guys might not know is the original plan for Jar Jar Bings was that he was a Sith Lord and he was acting stupid. He was behind important decisions (especially in the future) and the original plan was to unveil him in the last part of the new trilogy. Unfortunately they decided it was too dark and too complicated and changed it completely. A missed opportunity if you ask me.

This is an odd order to watch in. I mean, I'm curious to see how it goes, but I feel like this removes the most dramatic twists and turns. I know one of those "reveals" is pretty much impossible since everyone knows, but I've found there is another reveal that often really surprises people watching for the first time nowadays that is usually still a big reveal in either Episode 6, for original order, or episode 3, for machete order, but that won't be the case here since this will just unfold chronologically. Anyway, I'm interested to see how these reactions go since I've never actually seen anyone watch this way.

@MegaJf16 Interesting. Thank you for sharing your perspective. Now that they are already thru, I'm not worried about spoilers... I was thinking about the original trilogy Luke/Leia reveal that would no longer be a surprise if you watch 1/2/3 first. For me the prequels weren't boring bc I was genuinely interested in knowing what happened that led Anakin to becoming Vader. So while I thought some of the writing and directing wasn't as good, I definitely wasn't bored. But I'm glad to hear that it was really suspenseful for you since you went in blind from Episode 1! That's cool. :D

@@se6369 you could literally read the one other comment i made in this thread to understand what my concern was back then before asking me a question on a comment i left 2 years ago. I did find it odd bc there is a lot of context you don't have watching chrono order blind so you miss cool Easter eggs and certain plot points don't have the same impact. However. I have since watched about a billion more reacts. Some release, some machete, some chrono. And you know what i found? It doesn't actually matter which you choose. All the bs arguing about the "right" way to watch is just that... bs opinions. Even Lucas himself. The truth is, no matter which they choose, they get it. They have a great time on the journey. They become fans. It truly does not matter.

@@pemberliegh Sorry, I must have missed that. I just thought it is strange how so many fans recommend newcomers to watch Star Wars in the wrong order. People can watch it how they want of course, but I do think newcomers should not be recommended to watch something out of order like that. But it's not a huge deal if they do, I agree. It just gives them a slightly different experience. It all has its pros and cons. And fans are also free to recommend newcomers to watch it out of order if they feel like it, I just really disagree it's a good idea, oh well

@@se6369 no worries. my personal preference is still for release order bc that's what i grew up with and it has the most magic to me, as an overall experience. but i have long since stopped caring what order people pick. i love watching new reactions and find it really fun to see how watch order changes the experience for people. these days i will totally discuss my preference, if asked, but i will enthusiastically watch no matter what they pick for themselves.

@WillFanofMany A Duel, by definition is the exchange of maneuvers between two or more individuals. NO maneuvers were exchanged i that sequence. Just a lunge and an end. It doesn't qualify as a duel and it's still shit. Anakin was in FAR worse mental state than Maul and he still schooled Obi Wan. Obi Wan was just not as arrogant in that fight so he noticed his chance and took it. If Anakin had not been so "high on himself" Obi Wan would have lost. And Darth Maul is at "least" as good as Anakin was.
