Means we'll finally get to see Gundams and Super Robots. LOL But seriously, the radar systems alone is a gigantic game changer especially in the Bashi Channel, which for the most part is majority dotted by Philippine islands in the north. It also means the response time to a major Chinese aggression will be quicker.

All your points avout the US and Japan are valid, it's just that China is way worse than them. It says a lot that China does not have local allies. All China needed to do was not be overtly aggressive and they could have been leading a SEA coalition. But instead they push every country that's not an international pariah straight into the arms of the US and its allies.

@@marks4553First of all, all you comments are half-truths. The admin in 2013 are right in bringing to court the excessive expansionist ambitions of the ccp around the WPS so the Philippines' Maritime rights are strongly affirmed. The investment of China to the Philippines is self serving because of high interests and does not need criteria whether politicians lined it up in their pockets, making a possibility of debt traps. Third, although Japans population is aging, same thing happens in China due to gender disparity and one child policy. India now has overtaken china as the most populous country and should overtake China economically due to younger population and English literacy.

Japan not only helped the Philippines in their military modernization but also the Philippines infrastructures. Most of the Philippines transportation, such as railroad, underground subways, and industrial and manufacturing, are Japan based businesses. In turn, Japan responded with actions to help and mend their relationship with the Philippines. THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THEIR CLOSED RELATIONSHIP.

CHINA's goal is to have a base in WPS for geopolitical advantage as that specific area is where you can intercept / Cut China's passage for Supply in case a WAR breaks out in the future. That is also the only reason why USA is "HELPING" Philippines with their flowery words while Filipinos think they are heroes when in all honesty they aren't. I'm VERY happy to see this type of alliances in East/Southeast Asia. While I think it is critical that the US be involved in alliances in this region, it's important the the alliances NOT be just "the US with Country X" and then "the US with Country Y" and then "the US with Country Z". The alliances MUST also be between countries that are both within that region. I think that it's also critical that Japan create partnerships and trust with countries that it had previously invaded (the Philippines, ROK, etc). There are still a lot of wounds and hard feelings from WW2 based on Japanese invasions. This is an opportunity for Japan to show that they are now "one of the good guys" and hopefully heal some of those old wounds and feelings.

The USA, Australia, Japan, and the Philippines are all part of this alliance, but it's clear who the weakest link is. With limited resources and the need to enhance our strategic capabilities, we find ourselves lagging behind the other players. The Philippines' strategic location is undoubtedly an advantage that the USA, Australia, and Japan value. However, when it comes to our military capabilities and our contribution to countering PRC aggression, we can only offer limited support. Our arsenal includes 12 FA-50s, 2 Frigates, 3 Corvettes, and a relatively small land army. To have a robust military, a strong economy is essential. Unfortunately, the Philippines currently faces economic challenges due to restrictive policies, protectionism, and an inefficient government system with inadequate infrastructure. It's imperative for the Philippines to initiate reforms and take decisive actions to secure its future as a nation.

@@comment8767 That is how Americans are brainwashed. Don’t you know the Philippines had to fight repeated wars with the US to gain its independence!!! The Philippines became independent only after WW2. Look up a history book. After WW2, every Asian country had to fight with the US and European colonial occupiers. Their independence was NOT GIVEN by Americans or Europeans. Asian countries fought and expelled the US and European colonizers. The ONLY exception for this was China. China sided with the West and fought against the Japanese and all other Asian people.

@@comment8767 On second thought, you probably are Chinese, who are completely and totally brainwashed. You got everything wrong. Asia was colonized by the West for hundreds of years; India by the British, Indochine by the French, Indonesia by the Dutches, the Phillipines by the Americans, and so on. Japan invested in China (Manchuria), Korea, and Taiwan. That is why those areas were well developed then (and are now). The U.S allowed us to buy new Navy Vessels but didnt allowed missile defense systems imstalled... if that is so, then why bought military vessels that are just good for transporting and not defense. We need a NATO for Asia and a multinational coast guard to deter dictator countries. Also, we need an immediate and BIG increase of defense investments in Philippines. Also, we should not have ANY Filipino military in potential aggressor countries, getting training or doing anything. Anyone who goes there we must assume that they were approached for recruitment and may have been indoctrinated. We need standardized equipment and communications among the democratic alliance. Also, we might as well just extend Nato to Asian so its one big democratic alliance that can communicate and fight together seamlessly.

@oo-ey2fl NATO is a dedicated military alliance with binding commitments for mutual defense. It has sophisticated structures in place for joint military operations and defense procurement. ASEAN is primarily a diplomatic and economic organization with a focus on regional cooperation and stability. While it does engage in defense-related activities, it doesn't offer mutual defense guarantees and doesn't have the same level of military integration as NATO. ASEAN is not nearly strong enough to deter conflict or respond decisively if conflict erupts in the region.

Just to be clear to every non Filipino out there, just because we voted for a president, does not mean we agree with everything he did. I voted for Duterte but I sure hell did not agree to the shift to China. I am confident in saying that a large number of those who voted for Duterte (atleast those in the know) view China in a very negative light. This might surprise most people but the Philippine Chinese community are the ones that hate mainlanders the most. Often calling them as arrogant pricks, people with no respect for the local laws, and generally elitist assholes. Same could be said for Bongbong Marcos. I did not vote for the guy due to crimes inflicted by his father's cronies to my family (lost my grandfather in the martial law days), but the sins of the father is not the sins of the son. So far, BBM is doing a lot of the things that I wish Duterte did in the foreign affairs department. I hope he keeps proving me wrong and lead the Philippines away from the path of the communist filth that is China.

Both Japan and China invested in modernization in Infrastructures, that is a fact and not a biased information. How you view China and Japan is very shallow, the Main issue with CHINA and Philippines is that we don't know how the past administration in 2013 handled WPS, whether they had an monetary agreement to buyout WPS to their corrupt pockets or they were just idiots. CHINA invested in the Philippines so they would gain Philippines as an Ally by investing billions instead of a War battle ground in case US decides to take on CHINA with their War hunger to still be on top of the world. When you say JAPAN, you are talking about a US ally, Japan is a member of NATO don't expect that they are helping Philippines just for the sake of your ALTRUISTIC Naive idealistic beliefs. In all honestly, Philippines have a lot to lose if CHINA pullouts ALL their Investments in the Philippines, CHINA has a massive market compared to Japan with their dying population and US don't really invest that much because all they care are wars, they make all their money from wars as they are the top Weapons Manufacturing country. Once CHINA pulls out ALL of their investments and Philippines will make friends with NATO.... PHILIPPINES will become BATTLE GROUND, Filipinos think US and JAPAN as their knight and shining armor and don't realize their country neighbor is CHINA. Funny thing enough how Philippines Love US and Japan and forgot how they massacred their fellow filipinos back in the day by those same people.

Even Singapore, Japan, The Netherlands, The UK, The US, South Korea and India had bigger investments here by value. The only reason you say that they invest here the most is because of those misleading lies that they were babbling about. All talk and promises but no action yet. >Yes, Filipinos could forgive, BUT never forget. That, his strategy of luring investors from various countries(not just relying on US investments alone) and his policies to shift from coal, gas and oil to more renewable(Solar and Wind) and nuclear energy really impresses me... I mean yeah we all know that the 20php per kilo of rice during his campaign is not really realistic but come on, it is just a layman's terms that with more foreign investments leads to more competition and more competition leads to more jobs and added it with a more efficient and cheap source of energy(Solar, Wind and Nuclear) can help investors/businesses(foreign and local, large and micro) to cut the cost in utilities like electricity, then they can, and more obliged to give better wage and better benefits for the working class that will balance the issue of inflation.
