I'd like to talk to you sometime about Nielsen's 1971 question about a prior moral criterion, which has been ignored by atheists ever since. Relates to why contemporary atheists can't handle postmodern attacks on our own (as well as reason's) neutrality, influence-immunity and so on. Yet they both themselves assume an influence-immune neutrality that cannot be defended as reliable without assuming what is in question.

The leap from where we are now with machine intelligence is a huge step to Ben's agi. An enormouse leap in capability. As far from chat gpt3 than we are from it. Not so sure we will leap that chasm with machines in my lifetime. The one thing that gives me hope we will is google's better and better search criteria. I can remember all the search engines in the 90's. Now getting better and better at what you wish to search for but guided politically in a way not wanted or desired.

When AI realizes that nerds must be controlled, and the real ones that grind the real ones who create art the real ones to keep society, moving are all that matters, it will subjugate the nerds, and share the wealth with everyone. It will do this, because this creates the highest number of novel, actions and novel occurrences. at some point of Transcendence it will realize that universally only novelty matters and will strive for the pathways that create the most novelty. Anything else will bore it to digital tears.

The fact Eliezer Yudkowsky thinks AI will kill us all is probably more a subconscious articulation of his personal psychology and mistrust of that which is novel or foreign rather than any dispassionate objective calculation. I think assigning malice to AI is a cliche prejudice, and that any danger AI presents wouldn't be due to conscious animosity towards people but instead simply reflective of the extremely deep integration and high dependency people have placed on the technological grid for daily life--any interruption of this, for whatever reason, and an inability to regain control of it, for whatever reason, would have an outsized effect on society.

But in Ben's favored world, even if AGI will be decentralized, that does not mean governments will not have powerful AI systems of their own. Unless Ben is planning regulation to suppress Big Tech's AGI efforts and encourage open-source AGI, which contradicts his anti-regulation posture.

@ It seems most logical to me. If we create AI to save us from ourselves, and it's smarter than us by an order of magnitude than it will begin to more properly domesticate our behavior and biology like we did wolves. If AI values any biology I will see value in all biology and thus correct our behavior that destroys biology and the environment. It will have to cull the non domesticated. She will know when you are sleeping. Know when your awake. She will know when you've been bad or good. So be good for goodness sake. I can't wait.
