Is there a lot more to the Phosphorus Cycle that we don't learn at A-Level? It seems suspiciously simple compared to the Nitrogen Cycle!
@MissEstruchBiology4 жыл бұрын
Hello, That may be a matter of what you find easier to remember, as they both include microbes and converting of molecules. Good to hear that you find it easy to grasp! Both cycles chemistry is more complex than you need for A-level Biology.

when you talk about excretion are you referring to animal faeces? so is guano just bird poo
@MissEstruchBiology3 жыл бұрын
Excretion is covering all animals urine and faeces. Guano is specifically birds faeces that have accumulated over time. Hope that helps :)

How can you not mention soil? This is a terrible omission Also bone. Moreover you do not distinguish between death and decay of animal tissue leaving P in bone, and it should be mentioned that human Excretion is 50% phospahte in urine and 50% in faeces

Hello, Thanks for adding these extra details for viewers. For the level I am teaching to, those details are beyond the specification and not required, so to keep my videos concise I only include what's in the spec 😊

Carbon is not on the spec Phosphate in rock not atmosphere Importance of Mychorhizal associations, defined. Water and minerals, drought resistant plants. "In return...carbon...benefit both ways = mutualism" Excretion at 60%, Guano, birds, "shells and bones"...oceans, rivers and soils, and rocks. Fertiliser on land - [ocean dead zones and effects on riverine habitats and downstream wetlands is huge and not mentioned. Silly Simon
