I also like how the wood grains all go in the same direction; its an aspect that could also aid in solving the puzzle as well.
@FLEBpuzzles7 жыл бұрын
It could! I didn't assume it for this puzzle (it was much more apparent on the Aztek puzzle), but it could have helped!
@Condor4R7 жыл бұрын

While you were explaining the the base i notices the grain of the base and was curious if that might have been a clue to the solve as well... after completed the grain did go in the same direction.
@FLEBpuzzles7 жыл бұрын
It could have! I didn't notice it when I was solving, as it was much more apparent on the Aztek puzzle. I don't think it helps you all that much, but it's certainly useful!

Hi Fleb, I am a huge fan and always look forward to all your videos. I noticed that you have changed the format a little bit where you actually look at us during the introduction. If I may give an honest feedback - I prefer the older format. I think you have a very unique style and voice - your talking mannerisms is a great asset. But that style is broken with the new format - the audio quality specially is poor when the camera is facing you. And of course this is more difficult to pull off because there are more variables to control. In the old minimalist style, we only saw the puzzle, the table, your hands, and heard your voice - and you had that nailed.

What if I suck at puzzles but I'm a good every day problem solver like with things that break down or things that need a solution?
@ethanjensen6617 жыл бұрын
what I like about the puzzle is that the pieces are all the possible unique triangular hexominos
@monohymn7 жыл бұрын
But there are twelve hexiamond shapes...
@ethanjensen6617 жыл бұрын
monohymn some of those unique ones are merely reflections that you cannot achieve through rotation
@monohymn7 жыл бұрын
I think you need to try again. Both Wolfram and Wikipedia illustrate twelve unique shapes. A better explanation as to why these nine are used is because they are the ones that can be made by putting two triamonds together, which is not possible in the other three (called crown, signpost, and lobster).
@ethanjensen6617 жыл бұрын
monohymn ohh!! ok! haha it seems that the puzzle is satisfying after all! I think why they are hexiamond shaped is because at seven triangles, you might be able to make pieces with holes in the middle!
@monohymn7 жыл бұрын
Polyforms with holes in the middle are icky!

Hey there fleb, have you ever come across a puzzle that was well built and reasonably challenging, but you didn't like it? It seems that most of the puzzles we see you debunk are puzzles that you enjoy or that you think we'll like. I'm just curious to know if there are any "good" puzzles out there that you don't like or didn't enjoy solving.
@FLEBpuzzles7 жыл бұрын
There are lots of puzzles like that! For instance, there are a lot of variation on the "Wit's End" that I don't think add anything to the puzzle! It's always a little disappointing when that happens. What I'm trying to do with this channel is show you the wide variety of puzzles that exist in this world! There are so many good puzzles, why talk about the bad?

That's why the puzzle techniques are so important! I forgot to mention that the reason I was looking at that peg close to the edge is that from a heuristic perspective, it seemed the most constrained.
