Given that Miyamoto didn’t actually specify, I’m pretty sure the game he meant was “pretty close to completion” in 2015 was actually Hey! Pikmin. That came out in 2017 and Miyamoto never really clarified what he was talking about, so that may have been the nebulous “next one” he was referring to, and it might have even been “the fourth Pikmin” internally before it was named.

There was a KZbin channel that went by “patiencelittleshadow” and the Pikmin animation was their only video for the channel. Though I’m unsure if they were the original animator. The name itself feels like the KZbin channel was created just for that video alone, as Olimar is a little shadow and he needs to be patient for his goal to be reunited with his family.

Something I’d like to mention regarding the Wii builds of pikmin 3, some content of those builds was likely still present in pikmin 3 itself, in pikmin 3 deluxe you can find unused enemies such as the emperor bulblax using its pikmin 2 model as well as pikmin 2 era looking models for enemies such as the whiptongue bulborb, there’s even an early version of the garden of hope that was found, so although we may never see an actual Wii build of pikmin 3 in certain those leftovers are remains from those builds
