Goosecreek was fronting for her in 1977 at Tennessee Tech I went to the back door to hear the band. She arrived walked ahead of her guards in a Navy pea coat. I fell in beside her and walked in she went toward the back of the stage and I took off upstairs. She grinned and I got to watch her for free.

Here in NZ ive been priveleged to see Kris K twice -once in the immortal "Highwaymen',then as a 65th birthday present solo with the late Merle Haggards backing band .truly an inspirational artist and possibly one of countries premiere songwriters ,a lot based on his own life experience.

Because he sings with nuance, sincerity and integrity and his wonderful voice is essential to conveying those things. And, of course, because he is the poet/lyricist/composer of so many amazing pieces. Singing his own songs gives us insight into what he, the creator, imagined as he created. Others will have other reasons, no doubt.
