The graphs are nice and all, but we really should be seeing at least the Galaxy Fold 4 if not also the 3 in each test. Sure it is nice to know how it stacks against "normal" devices, but we really should be seeing how it stacks against the competition. Especially since the intro talks about how it is pushing the market competition. Feels like a huge portion of the video was missed/cut for some reason.

I'm actually really excited to see the 2nd generation attempt at this. I already like how the Pixel feels compared to the Galaxy (especially the form factor for their foldables, the Galaxy Fold always felt too skinny to me whereas the Pixel Fold actually feels like a phone when folded and a tablet when opened which is what I want from a foldable), but I also know Google is the king of first-gen fumbles so I'm cautious about the fold until the next gen.

Galaxy fold 3 owner since it's launch day! Just wanted to say two things: I think the screen durability has a LOT to do with what kind of user you are, how you handle texh devices in general, AND the climate you live in. Foldables have an issue with the plastic inner screen protector becoming stuff in cold conditions, thus leading to bubbles, weird sounds, and I've read of folks who couldn't even open their galaxy folds in our right frigid temps because the screen protector essentially froze. BUT if you're like me, live somewhere where it's warm to hot all year round - it's a none issue. I know a handful of other foldable users in my area and all of them have had zero screen issues when it comes to lifting or cracking - we've all been foldable owners for over two year'ish now. The tech is really developing. I feel like the jump from the fold 2 to 3 was the biggest yet. Fold 4 was a nothing upgrade, and the Fold 5 feels like it could be the same.... Very tempted to jump to the pixel fold for a year until the Fold 6 comes out.

I’m actually very into the concept of a foldable phone that is both regular phone and a tablet, cause I feel it will slide into my routine very easily. But I will keep waiting for one of the brands to find the solution for the inner screen to become as sturdy and robust as outer screens. I understand the limitations we currently have, but still, I really don’t like how fragile those inner screens currently are.

It's kind of a miss on the tablet side of things, at least for me, because I use tablets mostly for just watching video content, and because of the weird aspect ratio on foldables the video itself ends up being not much bigger than on the front screen. And I also think not everyone adapts their websites for those weird screens
@Set.My.Handle

@@quadroff I get what you mean, it is definitely all about the preferences. I hear everyone complaining about how some apps aren't full screen on the inner display of the pixel fold compared to the galaxy folds. This is because when the galaxy fold opens, it's technically in portrait mode not landscape because of their different aspect ratio. If you orient the fold in landscape position apps like Instagram, don't take up the full screen.

I've had my pixel fold for a couple weeks now, and it has already been a huge benefit on the go for productivity/work related tasks. I carry a foldable Bluetooth keyboard (iclever), mouse (microsoft arc), and this phone instead of a laptop or full sized tablet for when I need to provide remote support to a coworker while out at the lake with the kids or something like that, instead of having to sit around the house 24/7 in case a request comes up while I'm on call. Yes, I'm in IT in an industry that works 24/7, and the company compensates us appropriately for the sometimes long hours.

Regarding apps like Instagram not filling the screen, this is because they arent optimized for anything other than phones. Samsung doesn't actually get a win here. The difference is that the Galaxy Fold opens in a portrait orientation, while the Pixel Fold opens in landscape. If you rotate the Pixel Fold to portrait, the app looks exactly the same as it does on the Galaxy, while if you rotate the Galaxy to landscape, it looks like the default for the Pixel.

It is just a tad larger and taller than the iPhone 13 mini and the front screen is as wide as an iPhone pro max 13. I have average size hands and it fits very well.

I like my Flip 3, but I'm around sand and dirt and dust too much for any foldable to have any sort of useful lifespan. My S20 Ultra has enough screen real estate for pretty much all of my mobile needs while still fitting into almost all of my smallest pockets. Anything that I would need more screen for I have my Surface with an ultra low profile type pad and pen. Realistically, the Pixel and Galaxy folds are trying to give you an all in one experience, but I can't think of anyone but an enthusiast that would want that over a reasonably-sized phone and tablet.

i don’t really like using tablets for my day to day and i like my phones small so i don’t really see much appeal to the folding phone. the flipping phone i get because it gets really small and is easy to fit in your purse and it adds a layer to opening your phone which might help the phone addicted among us. idk though

I've daily driven a Galaxy Z Fold 4 for around a year now and I have not experienced the screen protector seperation weirdly enough. For sure I would purchase the Pixel Fold because it's aspect ratios are much more natural than the Z Fold, the Folds inner and outer screen both have odd aspect ratios for consuming content imo.

For those looking to buy this phone, its a great phone. I have used Z fold 4 and this seems to be more practical when it comes to the usability of the outer screen. However, you have to be careful with the inner screen because the dust particle may get stuck along the hinge alloy and then when you unfold it, they would get pushed inside resulting in dead pixels/screen blackout. It happened with me but I had warranty so I got it replaced. Since then I use a case which covers the hinge as well. VRS design has those cases. I highly recommend them as I have been using the case on my pixel fold for the past one month and never had any issues. I had many other issues including wireless charging not working when I got it initially. The replacement pixel fold that they sent me is working great with no issues thus far..

I'm a big fan of the Pixel flavor of android but also appreciate cutting edge tech. I've tried Samsung devices in the past (not a fold) and just can't get past the software experience. So with the Fold I'm happy that I found a device that hits both my cool tech and good software experience. Yes, it's stupid expensive but I have the means and enjoy using the device. So maybe I'm the 1% this was built for but I'm happy with it.

I enjoy their software experience. It is a little more "appl-y" and google takes alot of it to their base system too. However, the animations kill it some times. Making you push a button but the animation wasn't complete and it doesn't actually push. If you turn them off, or even .5 rather than 1x it helps alot!!!

Interestingly, I'm the exact opposite, I much prefer the Samsung OneUI compared to any other Android UI, including Pixel. Maybe it's because I had multiple Nokia Symbian S60 smartphones, then the Nokia N9 with MeeGo Harmattan and SwipeUI and then went to BlackBerry 10...I still miss my N9 and Passport. OneUI reminds me so much of SwipeUI and BB10, which is why I prefer it to anything else. Just goes to show you how far ahead Nokia and BB actually were, they knew where the market was going in terms of UI/UX, they were simultaneously 18-24 months too late to market and 7 or 8 years too early to market with MeeGo and BB10 respectively. Might have had a 3 or 4 mobile OS options today if both could have given their huge user base modern mobile operating systems just a little bit earlier. Competition is a good thing! Anyways, I digress...that's off topic.

The Fold 4 is also a great DS emulator. It also has the added benefit of being slightly long, so if you have to use the virtual buttons there's plenty of room remaining for the dual screens. Although I just hide the buttons and attach one of the USB-C controller thingies from Amazon. (I use the Gamesir, but any should work. I went with physical connector to eliminate lag, which was pretty significant on bluetooth devices for Nvidia Geforce Now. You just have to pick the model that has the connector on the left side of the controller instead of the right, or your screen will fold downward instead of upward, which can be hard to get used to and awkward to hold.) edit: What the fuck happened to that Fold?? I've had my 4 for a year as well and it looks *nothing* like that. I've even dropped mine and dented my hinge, and my Fold 4 looks like it just came out of the box in comparison to that one. I had a Fold 2 for two years and *it* looked nothing like that when I turned it in for the 4. Lord have mercy on any phone that finds itself in the possession of that person.

Durability of this phone is why I'm glad I didn't hold out for it and got a Fold 4 instead (on launch day). I've abused the absolute SHIT out of this thing (pretty mobile job, lot of bumping into things and a fair few drops) and it's been a killer. My biggest complaint is software, and nowadays that's mostly just websites not supporting the more narrow aspect ratio and breaking.

@@cordellshackelford4037 A phone for a "power user"? What kind of "power user" apps do you use? Most people use their phone to watch TikToks, do some websurfing, use whatsapp, etc. These apps really don't need a large unfolding screen. Also there are small tablets like the iPad mini that fit in almost any bag you have. And give a 100x better "power user" experience than this phone ever will. Currently I see only FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) being the thing that drives people to buy them. When you take that away you're left with the most inferior phones on the market. And for their prices you can easily buy a flagship normal phone and a tablet.
