The problem with Platform 2 for me is how it tries to touch on what's really going on but never actually gives you enough to help piece it together. It feels like it's a fucked up social experiment but there has to be more to it than just that. Makes me assume we're getting a Platform 3 that might follow the main characters of both movies starting at the bottom of the pit.
@aryandguyАй бұрын

It’s a prequel
@ChungowumboАй бұрын
Well technically it is a social experiment remember these people chose to go there
@DeeNSRT22 күн бұрын
I’m not sure that’ll be entirely possible as the bottom of the pit is supposed to be an interpretation or representation of death itself, as in all who are seen down there in both movies have already died, even goreng in the first and the woman in the second. which is why the big guy who set himself ablaze and the armless woman is seen amongst the “living” crowd of people at the pits bottom surrounding her and the kid. the subliminals and metaphors make both the movies quite literally impossible to “read” or understand which is why I enjoy them both for the movie itself rather the in depth lore and true purpose of them because it doesn’t fully add up to something or truly come together just yet. For one, if the second is a prequel why is there no mention of the former messiah or anointed ones, and that there have been kids in the pit before, even sent up to the top not only that but if the events of 2 take place before one how was goreng at the very bottom of the pit before 2s main character, the more you think about the things of both movies the less it makes sense and the more it takes away from the experience of the movie
@DradeeusАй бұрын
Both the movies kinda end in sending children up, which I think is supposed to represent the fact that despite everything, despite the fact we know how things turn out, we still continue to have kids and send them into the world we created. Dunno if that's supposed to be dark or hopeful.

Well its because its a flashforward timeskip. After she reaches the bottom, leaves the knife guy alone the knife guy gets a new cell mate (guy from 1st movie) 1st movie takes place while she gets comfy in the basement, them meeting at the end is a timeskip after he completes the 1st movies events.

This is really the Bioshock 2 of the Platform. I think it makes sense if we interpret this all as a form of social experiment or test to start off with. This place might be Hell, might be some virtual sim, might be something stranger still - but I don't think it's purely physical. The zero-g, the lost daughter plotline, the way the platform floats, the number of people that survive without eating for long periods of time, and eyeless dude being a daredevil type menace. After watching the first and this recap, I can appreciate how the movie is a metaphor and a conversation with its audience. But looking at it literally feels like a concept from the other side of the black mirror - like a digital punishment scenario.

Ok I think I know the key piece you missed. One big theme of don quixote is the madness of the character and how the story is at least somewhat unreliable. Apply this to the protagonist of the first film, where his madness of a situation makes it self established with how he believes himself a hero in a broken system while not being able to see the full picture. I think the implication is that his sons murder was catalyst and his answer of why are you entering this place to get a degree is proof of the guys madness.

this has gotta be some form of purgatory that exists in a digital realm. not full on afterlife but like one of those sci fi shows where peoples minds are locked away in VR and a hour in real life passes but its been a month or year in the VR world. that would make sense why the one dude is sent to learn discipline but others are there for other reasons or even longer. and other events like people being swapped around so fast and efficiently.
@chucklebutt4470Ай бұрын
The best version of that I've seen was the one where the people put inside the VR prisons are forced to drive "autonomous" taxis and they are punished with pain if they screw up. But from their POV it's just a game and not IRL. Oh yeah, it was Captain Laserhawk! That shit is tight.

I don't know if I agree that this is a criticism of socialism... It seems more like State Capitalism to me. There's a stratified hierarchy in the society, with an ultimate ruling class who dole out the food and establish the rules that the people must follow. When someone breaks a rule, only people above can enforce the law (which they do through violence) much like a police force enforcing the state law through violence. The religious aspect also aligns with the rules, which represents a state religion, unlike a secular socialist politics.
So some of the obvious themes here are capitalism, communism, and dictatorships. Also, religion driving people’s decision making skills and anarchy. Some people were saying that they believe the Platform is a version of Hell or purgatory. Which makes sense to me because Tremagasi did die in the first movie, although, it seems like he never dies. Maybe when you die in the platform, you just wake up on another level?🤷♀️ So it’s like Groundhog Day. Them saying about the child that it’s their turn now; clearly was about setting up a better or worse world for the future. I.e. “Children are our future.” Idk why people arent mentioning that there are 333 floors. So there are 666 people. Which further proves this is a form of hell. Also, platforms levels isn’t a stretch from Dante’s Inferno. Maybe you end up in lower levels depending on how bad your crimes were in real life. Purgatory theory seems plausible too. The no gravity scene makes me think this is the astral plane. And some people could be there to accomplish things they couldn’t in waking life. Like maybe Dagin Bobby always wanted to be the leader of a revolution. Those are my thoughts for now. Edit: About the timeline, I did go back and watch the first movie afterwards. And I noticed something interesting. This isnt a different set of people as the first movie. It’s the same set of people and we know this because the platform also has the same exact foods on it. The same cake, snails, panna cotta, etc. so people keep going back and forth about which movie came first. I think it simply is all happening at the same time. You’re just seeing it from the perspective of different characters on different levels this time. I even wondered briefly if Gerang WAS Dagin Bobbi? Like he lived so long that the hero became the enemy trope?

I didn't think it was the same facility from the first film until Trimagasi showed up. But I liked the film, it's not as good as the first and not sure the main characters having a direct connection made sense. Films like these don't need to answer everything, having questions after it ends leaves more to be explored.

I've been waiting for you to do a video on this film. I watched both parts and this one left me completely in the dark!

So when they are in zero G, how is everyone stable in their beds? They strap them down? So then they unstrap themselves when they wake up? What about the people all the way at the bottom? Do they all have beds that they get strapped into?

I really thought the big scary pizza loving guy was going to be evil & try to eat her or assault her. Surprisingly he was a teddy bear.

I liked the first and second movie but man the endings are confusing, did see some characters from the first one though so it’s a nice tie in prequel

I think the kid represents a reset. Then the next person goes down and die. If the kid is the message to the administrators up top, they would of stopped the program after they saw the first kid, the second kid and so forth. This makes me believe there are no kids. The kids we see on 333 is a visual representation of starting the program over.

I can’t stand how the platform moves without propulsion, I want them to make a 3rd movie called The First Platform where it goes up and down in a realistic way

The whole thing is a metaphor It’s not a piece of realism
