part 2 was a prequel as when she woke up with the old man she gave him the advice " don’t talk to the people above, don’t talk to the people below either " which is what he told his partner during the 1st move

At first I thought this movie was a proper sequel. I thought they had developed so far ahead from the first movie that they now have religion, and established an order to keep people fed. I was so saddenned to see the old man from the first movie and realize this was a prequel, that this (albeit temultuous) order would not last and eventually decay into the anarchy of the first movie.

The cycle of "sharing" and "egoism" must had happened many times before either of both movies. Remember that in the first movie the protagonist 's"cellmate" begins to stablish a way of setting plates for the people below your level, so in a sense starting the "let us all share cycle again." (this clearly didn't work in the movie, but maybe planted the seeds).

Interesting. Maybe that's why in the climax, while the loyalists and barbarians fight and there's no food left till the end of the pit, the kids aren't happily playing anymore. Instead they are fighting to reach the top. And maybe because of that, one kid i.e. the boy is put into the platform. It can also mean if someone succesfully let the kid move up, the kid might survive and come out of the platform. Children are the future.

Gravity can be explain with the same concept of them having a platform going up and down a building. (easier to clean and move things too) . And pretty sure that the protagonist of the first film is(was) the boyfriend and the level below 333 must be the afterlife so in a way an hallucination..

The movie is more to interpreted against real society: 1. Social Inequality The movie represents how wealth, resources, and power are distributed unequally in society. The people at the top floors get plenty of food, while those below receive less or none as the leftovers make their way down. The prisoners’ suffering mirrors real-world issues like poverty, where the lower classes have limited access to basic needs while the upper class benefits disproportionately. 2. Human Nature and Greed The behavior of the prisoners reflects how people, when given access to abundance, tend to overconsume and hoard resources without regard for others. It critiques human selfishness and how, in times of scarcity, individuals may abandon empathy in favor of survival, often turning to brutal measures. 3. Solidarity vs. Individualism The film explores how some characters try to foster solidarity, like Goreng, the protagonist, who seeks to distribute food fairly to all the floors. However, the lack of cooperation from others suggests that achieving collective good is difficult when people are primarily focused on their own needs. This underscores the tension between individualism and the possibility of collective action in solving systemic problems. 4. The Ending’s Ambiguity Without giving too much away, the film's ending leaves room for interpretation. The “message” sent at the end (the child) can symbolize hope, innocence, or even future revolution. It suggests that change is possible but requires sacrifice and the transmission of a clear message to those at the top of the power structure.

The connection with both main leads doesn’t make sense and feels forced. The main lead never mentioned having a child nor his any sorrow about losing a kid. It felt like a forced idea. In the first he mentioned he wanted a degree which is why he came. If left little hints in the first about this potential connection then it would have been a perfect lead in. I did like the concept of the old man and her being room mates connecting it to the first. They should have stuck with that idea

They were like, we'll put some things that make sense, and after a certain point we'll just start throwing random stuff in there that make no sense at all, and with no particular meaning. People will burn their brains trying to figure out how are these things connected, and what do they mean, until they feel stupid for not getting it and give up.... I loved the film. It showed that everything that the protagonist of the first one did with so much hope was nothing more than another part of a cycle that has been going on for a while. Also a clear reference to Jesus and the disturbed way in which people interpret the supposed message left by him. Someone supposedly did something absurd in the well (the messiah), LITERALLY taking from himself to give to others, which could very well have been an invention, who knows? Anyway, from this, the "anointed" (those who saw the messiah) together with people in the well shaped the dynamics and added rules to the well using the communication above in the film. In a questionable way with the quality of the laws they were applied, having a lot of brutality and interfering with others' ideal of "freedom", a revolution began, throwing everything into the mess we saw in the first film, which we now know is a sequel. Did the protagonist of the first film become the new Messiah?? He may have created new "anointed ones" like what he did by taking the food down, which would be something very different from what the old messiah did, thus creating a new ideology. Anyway, both films deal a lot with the subjectivity of morality, so we will NEVER understand it 100%, since in the "real world" we no longer can lol I don't know, I thought it was pretty cool, man, I'm not gonna look for things to complain

That's a good take. This is what I got from it, I think it was more of a thought provoking piece that lays out our current society and the nature of humanity: 1.

Here's my symbolic take on the pyramid scene: Jeru - you will see/raised up high Salem - meaning peace Children symbolize innocence, and innocence, along with peace, is taken from them when two mysterious figures, the 'elohim,' whisper in a child's ear and escort him away. The child, representing the missing capstone, is placed in a "zero gravity" environment labeled 333. This capstone is crucial for the completion of a "New Jerusalem"-a place meaning "raised up high where peace can be seen." However, without the capstone, they remain trapped in the same oppressive system with no escape. Scholars have inferred that the Tower of Babel was an attempt to build a pyramid-like structure, possibly to reach the heavens or at least communicate with entities from the lower realms of these heavens. Yet, this project was never completed; it was destroyed by the mysterious elohim.' Similarly, in the movie, the pyramid remains incomplete without the missing capstone, which is represented by the young boy. He is taken away and secluded. We can also see the concept of a missing capstone on the U.S. dollar bill. As long as the capstone (the "secret" to establishing the so-called New Jerusalem/ secret to escaping the prison like society) is absent, society remains trapped in the slave system overseen by the Federal Reserve, the same institution that cleverly included the image of a pyramid with a missing capstone on the dollar bill. In the context of the movie, without the capstone, the characters remain confined to their prison-like system. Remember, when the children were close to "reaching the heavens," two mysterious figures intervened and dismantled the pyramid, taking away joy and hope from the children as can be seen by the looks on their faces.

People may wonder how we find the missing capstone or complete the New Jerusalem. Perhaps that's why people so desperately think we need a messiah. Or perhaps the secret known and simply hidden from the masses, while the "elite rulers" know exactly where this capstone is and what this missing piece to the puzzle is. Until then, we're all stuck in the same prison like system under their rule unless you decide to leave their matrix and stop working for their dollar bill.

I think the pit is the hell itself, and whoever saves the child wins redemption. The only reason they don't show the actual resolution at the end is because then it would be less interesting and it's horror/sci-fi after all. Or I'm just dumb... :D

My humble opinion what if everyone is the platform is dead and all platforms 333 divided by 3 signify heaven, purgatory and hell . The administration is the ‘ higher power’ to judge them and kids ( the message ) are able to go up to heaven ( the higher levels) because they are always welcome into the kingdom. Maybe my theory is far fetched but idk

I think i got it! The ones who got a child food on the last level got at the point of selflessness and redemption. It’s a life lesson on adults living for themselves when the next generation is affected by every decisions we make but we don’t think about that because nobody thinks about how we affect those under ourselves. 333 is just an extravagant number to show how unbalanced we are randomly previlaged.

😂🎉 I like the view the feel of the movie The message but it gets convoluted ambiguous so that's going to drive a lot of the fan base off I want to ride it out until I could get a full answer so hopefully the next one won't be a prequel of a prequel but be a final part 3 I don't think they should keep making them it was like the purge some are good some are bad they leave left questions unanswer to make another movie but will it mess it up if they keep it up they will mess it up just like they did The Purge great premise but eventually became a money-making machine not well thought of just like Saw hellraiser

Part three need to be made but they need to answer all the questions or it's going to suck anybody could film something that's intriguing with random stuff and vivid imagery fight scenes but if your audience stay confused then that messes up the value of the story I hope they don't make her prequel to a prequel they need to make a par 3 and leave it at that and not mess up the integrity of the story and try to milk it for money like they did the saw hellraiser Purge franchises The list goes on and on!! That's going to be a new genre ambiguous endings thanks to Christopher Nolan directors think they could do the ambiguous endings and still keep the audience Eventually it gets old and you need to explain❤🎉😢😂

I really liked both films, really wanted some answers though! First one seemed a lot more about capitalism, second seemed more about control and conforming? Obviously there’s religious symbolism in both. The bottom has to be the after life given who shows up there, but still a bit confused about the kids? Maybe they represent a child passing away, getting sent back to heaven (top of the platform) while those who reach the bottom stay in hell for the sin of greed? Both for food, and for money.

I actually love the logic behind the two movies . First movie =society today, it’s chaos, and how the evil deeds of others lead to more despair Second movie=how it used to be, how the leaders of society tried to maintain order through fear which sparks a revolt against the law. Very much in tune with society in real life, we used to hold a sacred law to ensure everyone was peaceful but used fear of blasphemy or heresy to enforce it, and now today we lack that same moral law and society is run by the cruel
