This movie is an allegory of life, (people above and under each other in life) and their belongings are representing their profession. That is why all the people (probably criminals) from lower stages have guns. The main character is an intellectual and thinker being (book) and that is why he is not preferred “there” (in society) and has lower chances to survive. Think about it 😉

The ones who fall in this case means the ones who fall in love/ let their emotions drive them. The Asian girl is a psychopath or a Narcissist and the main protagonist fell Inlove with her and so he couldn’t stop looking at the situation with rose coloured glasses on. Some people just can’t be saved and so she exploited him. Both his roomates told him she doesn’t have a kid and he refused to accept that as the truth even tho she never said she did. He refused to accept the reality of the situation. Even when she saved him she could’ve just wanted to kill the old man and get the knife, but he assumed other wise, even when she killed the dog he ignored it and In the end he ended up at the bottom with nothing. He lost himself trying to save someone else and he couldn’t accept that certain people can’t be saved their just evil. It is what it is.

I watched this about 2 weeks ago on Netflix. Considering the whole movie was in a language I was unfamiliar with it was still a VERY exciting yet terrifying movie. The subtitles definitely helped. I definitely recommend watching this movie. With all the stuff going on, it's a nice distraction. This movies pulls you into a spiral that is interesting to be in, yet it is difficult to pull your eyes away from the screen. Definitely would watch this movie again.

In the guise of entertainment, media has shown us images of romantic love that are difficult to maintain, and we feel inadequate if our lives don't measure up. There was enough food for all, but all will eventually perish from, starvation, diabetes, food poisoning and a plethora of other ills, all so the top one percent get more than they need : (

@@aerincollins1175 They kept saying that sending the girl up was "the message".. but honestly I'm not sure what the message was? I don't even know how she survived down there and looked as pristine as she did when no food was able to get down to that level. I'm surprised she wasn't eaten by someone much stronger than her. The ending didn't make much sense to me.

This is a great movie that shows EXACTLY the way that it was in communist soviet union. If you had a position of power ie. you worked in the communist party then you were at top of the food chain and had everything. As the levels went down people had less and less until the average person was left to starve. Moving up was impossible since everything is controlled and decided by the government. More people should see this movie as a lesson about the terrifying reality of socialism and total government control.
