All that was missing from this video was some talk about how the Noble Avalugg is the last of a even more ancient variety of Hisuian Avalugg that were 100 feet tall. However, the explanation for why the main Hisuian Avalugg in Legends are smaller than Kalos Avalugg makes me think that perhaps the kaiju-sized Avalugg are a reference to earlier ice ages that perhaps effected Hokkaido more than the most recent ice age did?

How could you not love a big, dumb ice table that tanks physical hits unreasonably well? (Better than Steelix even, thanks to higher HP to make up for slightly lower defense) Honestly Ava's in my top 10 through sheer audacity alone, virtually zero ice types can do the slow bulky archetype but this absolute unit somehow pulls it off.

@@Gnoggin Avalugg Enjoyer (tm) here, here are my personal reasons that may or may not match with OP's reasons: -It's a brutal-looking Ice-Type. Most Ice-Types focus on the elegance and serenity of the cold, but IRL the cold is absolutely merciless. This creature does that concept justice. -It's a unique creature design. It's not just an animal with ice powers slapped on, it's made of literal ice and exists as some hulking exoskeletal tortoise-ish weirdo. That's fun. -The lore. Based off of man-made islands and aircraft carriers, which are objectively cool concepts. It also carries Bergmites on its flat back to mimic this and that's just adorable.

Got me good with that bait, but as an Avalugg Enjoyer (tm) I'm more than satisfied. I've always liked their focus on demonstrating the brutality of the cold, plus being made of literal ice rather than just being an animal. i actually like Avalugg, even more so now with it's Hisuian form. like people complain about the shiny form and how "ugly" it is but i really love it. the different bits of color really make it pop as well as the hints that there are different bits of rock and mud over it since it's now a Ice/Rock type. like the bit of orange over the tusks look like clay and the yellow bits on it's legs look like sandstone. something about it getting these colors is fascinating to me and, lucky for me, i got a Shiny Bergmite in PLA and evolved it as soon as possible.
@dinoshotgun
@dinoshotgun 2 жыл бұрын
Wait what, people say the shiny is ugly? What is wrong with people, you don’t need to change a pokemons color completely to make a good shiny, just change it enough to where it makes a difference and makes it really stand out. I personally love both Hisuian Avalugg and Hisuian Sligoo (and Hisuian Goodras) shiny, it changes just enough to make a difference and look awesome but not too much to where it looks ugly. Looking at you shiny Mamoswine (quick question why in the heck did Mamoswine get a shiny that makes him look like he’s ill when both Pilloswine and Swinub shiny looks dope giving them a sweet golden hue. Like all they had to do was give Mamoswine the same golden hue and the shiny would have been perfect but no instead let’s make him look like he’s ill, sorry for the rant it just really annoys me when a good shiny turns bad when it evolves)

I'm surprised you didnt mention Avalugg's shiny form and how the red hues in its ice is in reference to the "blood glaciers" in Antarctica. When water from the subglacial lake seeps through a fissure in the glacier, the salty water cascades down the Taylor Glacier into Lake Bonney below. When the iron-rich water comes into contact with the air, it rusts-depositing blood red stains on the ice as it falls.

The pokemon you opened with is a reference to French Engineer Georges Mougin, who pioneered the idea of towing an iceberg from the antarctic. It did work, although the iceberg had lost 70% of it's mass in the trip. People have tried it multiple times as technology improved but by the time ships were fast enough to make it more practical, easier ways to make ice had been invented.

Watching this video just makes me realize I had no idea what a glacier was. Probably because I live in a hot desert.

I'll be honest here, I never caught a Bergmite in my X playthrough. Like at all. So the first time I saw one as well as Avalugg was in Sword.

It's cool how the Bergmite on the Avalugg at 10:24 is much bigger compared to the Avalagg in relation to the other examples of Bergmite on Avalugg, beacuse hisuian Avalugg is smaller than regular Avalugg

I saw that sneaky placement of Ambipom in the obscureness of horrors under the iceberg! It’s perfectly deserved though.

Fun fact: Goodra and Sligoo having metal shells is a reference to ORAS, where it's stated that Sinnoh's water samples contain magnetic sediment that comes from Mt. Coronet.

I immediately thought "ice breaker", like the bit on the front of a ship that cleaves through ice flows so it can pass through. Basically a snow plow, but boat.
