A truly difficult song to master, which you have accomplished.

Especially since Copeland plays how he feels and doesn't really stick to a conventional pattern.

This cover was so good, I pulled out my bass and played the bassline to the song while jam,Ing to your cover. You especially nailed the end which is tough as can be.

I've just watched this again, a year later, was about to comment how neat it was, turns out I already had! Nice job man. Copeland has such a nice style, and really hard to cover properly.

great job! you noted a 'few mistakes'... still sounds great; I have zero doubt that if asked, Steward could replay it note for note but I've seen video performances of this one & none of them are the same as the original recording.. therefore, in my humble opinion.. you learned the song.. you know the song, you had fun.. you crushed it.. keep on rockin!

Fantastic! Here and there not played exactly but that is understood. Had the octobans and the small splashes been present I would have thought it was Mr. Stewart Copeland himself going off of just the audio alone! Keep it up!

Dan came to PLAY and I mean play his ass off, right into the groove. Best cover of this song by a drummer bar none, thus far. I might be 8 years late to the party,but damn it ,I can still leave a genuine and sincere comment and compliment. Dan YOU Rock Man !! Love it. Hope you're still keep up the good groove and work. As a Fellow Drummer, really appreciate your abilties and talents there of...as Jimi used ta say "Play on Drummer!" !!

Dunno why this popped up now but I'm glad it did. Too few KZbinrs really capture Copeland's ultra tight snare but you have it 100%. Playing was also top notch. One of my two fav Police numbers for "that" fill where he plays too many notes into the next sequence but it's perfect. The other is Every Little Thing... of course.

Very well done and accurate cover, I would suggest to implement it playing along the octobans and splashes which are a great part of such drum part, I think you may match even more the very personal style of Copeland at that time. As a personal impression, rhe ride work seems not to be as accurate as the hihat one (not easy!), Stewart played a very unconventional ride beat on this tune using the bell and the body of the ride cymbal at the same time creating a "wall" of sound very particular, you should implement this tecnique in my opinion.
@spenceragain8 жыл бұрын
Wow, wow, wow!! Probably my favorite Police song and what you pulled off here is a big reason. Excellent! Yeah you tripped up *slightly* a couple times but I wouldn't even use the term "mistakes." You not only executed Copeland's part amazingly well (WHO else would think of playing that song the way he did?!!!) but you FELT it and it showed. It's not classical. It's not bossa nova. You don't bring charts and a metronome to this gig. You kick 'em in the balls, you take a few risks, and you have a blast doing it. And that's exactly what you did. Bravo!
