carl. i've been playing for 8 years and you got me started learning full songs without a teacher. i saw that you were posting and i genuinely was in tears knowing you were still in love with guitar. thank you for touching so many people and not even getting recognition that you deserve. 😭❤️

I know how to play Tender Surrender, learned it on Lick Library, taught by Guthrie Govan... excellent track...

A little advice for playing this song if you struggle. You can play the big 9th chords as a arpeggio aka one note at a time and not putting all fingers down at once trying to form the whole chord. Because of the tempo of the song it sounds just fine.I've seen videos of Andy Summers himself doing this live here and there probably as his hand gets tired.
@dragons_red2 жыл бұрын
Yeah with the delay effect and the palm mute used (not letting notes ring) it seems like the sensible thing to do.
@johnroche75412 жыл бұрын
Andy Summers used the same technique in "Message in a Bottle".

Just a general comment for anyone who may happen upon this channel and video. I have some limitations on my fretting hand and was unsure whether joining the academy would be beneficial. Not only did Carl get back to me, but did so with a voice response, offering some suggestions and some of his own personal playing challenges. I think I would have joined the Academy just on the strength of his character alone, but I have already found it immensely helpful, working through the Rock Improvisation lessons as a start. Can't recommend the Academy highly enough.
