there is also the 944 S and s2 with the turbo front. The turbo front looks so good!

Had this same year 944 in the popular Champagne color of the day. This was a magnificent car. Road & Track in a review to find the Best Handling car in the World at that time- gave the nod to the 944 and it also won a few comparison tests against the Corvette during the 80’s. The four-cylinder is basically half of the same engine that was in the V8 928 of that era- if you can find one, buy a later year 944 model… it would have the redesigned front dashboard control and dial panel rather than the carry-over design of the 924. Which meant better AC flow! I owned a 993 cabriolet and a 944- that 944 was every bit a Porsche - great car!

The button on the centre console that you didn’t know what it did - that switches from left to right wing mirror so you can adjust the mirror.

944s always look best with Fuchs alloys - would normally be with black centres though yours look phenomenal with the polished "spokes". Look a bit underwheeled at the rear with Teledials which, ironically look fantastic on 928s and the 924S - in my personal opinion. Looks better with European bumpers.

Just picked up a 1987 924S. Love the ride, its good in city and highway. Its gonna need a little TLC. I had a supposed german car expert shop check it out. Useless waste of $200 bucks. I wanted the main things checked so i could get a list as to what needs done. He called back quoting $2000 for timing belt, water pump, rollers. I asked if he took off the cover off,, and didnt know if the tech had actually checked it. I just paid the 200 and took my car back. You definitely have to do the work unless you havd money and trusted mechanic that actually has experience on them...

I have an 86 8v Na. I have done all the work on it myself. Couple of special tools to buy that i didnt have in the garage. But not an impossible task. Flywheel lock, and a pin spanner for the pulleys would get you there with a basic enough toolset.

Great video! As a 944 owner, I can confirm that this is an amazing car to have and drive. They liked to revved out and will drive in any condition. Personally, if anyone is interested in one I would get a 1985.5 or later. They changed the interior as VW designed this interior (came from the 924). Get one while you can! Make sure it’s had timing belts and water pump. These need to be don’t every 5 years- not based on milage just based on time. Cheers!

Nice video. I trust the interior is custom, not by Porsche. I have an '83. 6' 3" and I fit nicely! Take care!

Yes I agree, customised interior. Looks like it may have been a theme. The dash mat is aftermarket and is colour coded to the interior. Overall its pretty well done.

Not a red car from factory either, black or dark brown from the engine bay.

Hello from France, i have a question that's important to me, I'm 16y/o and I've done some research about this car and honestly I love everything and I'd love to learn mechanics on this car to maintain it etc. But what is your advices for a young driver is it a good idea on the financial point minding that I will continue school after graduations ? Also loved your video it is really explicative. Have a great day :)

This video is all over the place for me 😂. You lost me at German Miata.. The transaxle cars with the 50/50 weight distribution are what make these handle so great. The only similarity to a Miata is the physical size of the car. Stop saying parts are hard to find. Parts are not at all hard to find OR expensive if you have and are familiar with the internet. FCP euro and Pelican Parts have a tons of aftermarket options that are ridiculously less expensive than OEM. I’ve never had an issue finding anything either. This car is cheaper to maintain and as easy to get parts for as my 2003 Chevrolet. Your interior is no where near OEM, nobody at Porsche designed or made that. It should be guards red verses cross red but it’s obviously been painted (engine bay).

Absolutely. I feel the 944 is more refined than the 924, but you can pick up a 924 for less money and frankly it’s a great car aswell. I’ll do a video on one soon.

Porsche updated the car throughout the long production years, from the 924, 924s, early 944, late 944.. They are all built well and don't have many serious flows. But if you can, I would get the latest year you can find - that will come with all the updates and improvements.

My first car was a 1986, 944. I got it just before going into college in 1999. As an independent young adult who paid for everything out of his own pocket, and was just starting to learn about fixing cars, the 944 kept me broke, out of money during the 3 years I owned her. My advice is don't get a 944 as your first car, it is an expensive car to learn on.
@RCGrid6 ай бұрын
You don’t want a 944 or any 80’s car as your first car. At this age, everything made of rubber is deteriorating and needs constant attention and maintenance. This car would make a great second car if you already have something that can get you from point A to point B reliably
