Mr.Freeze is my dream villain for The Batman 2. However, right now we don’t know if Matt will use more fantastical villains. Also, two-Face can be the villain of The Batman 2. They’d have to set him up in the Penguin Series first and then have him appear in The Batman 2.

In the 2nd it would likely be Mr Freeze and Calendar Man since it's the holiday season and Dent would run for DA. Bane would likely be from the National Guard and used as an experiment with the venom.. This could also lead to Batman being addicted to Venom like in Batman Venom and he also decides to kick the drug when he loses a child to a kidnaping which the Court of Owls are known to do... Kidnap children.. So Dick Grayson will likely be kidnapped by the Owls or attempted to be kidnapped and they may use Bane to do it.. BUT they still need Hush to hunt down Bruce Wayne and force him into hiding as Batman in order to connect the dots.. Thomas Elliot could have easily been behind the Riddler's schemes and he may have even been the one who took the shot on Falcone cause those two characters Riddler and Hush tie together a few times.. Joker is going to be cameos and likely the main character of Arkham and manipulating a young Harleen Quinzel surrounding other characters many never heard of such as Great White Shark, Humpty Dumpty, Amygdala, Jane Doe, Fright, even Black Mask / Jeramiah Arkham. But Gotham is under water and winter is approaching along with the holiday season which would allow for at least 3 kills for Calendar Man before being stopped on New Years still focusing on Mr. Freeze as the main character and whatever agenda he has. But Calendar Man will likely be in Arkham spin off leaving us with Hush, Freeze, Bane and Dent as the likely options for the 2nd. Id rather not see Bane and Freeze together again but Dent should have been in Colson's role and lost half his face in the blast. Wouldn't even need to show him after that in the movie as long as the fans know what that was

I 100% agree with you on Two-Face only being set-up in the sequel as Harvey Dent before making his full appearance in The Batman 3, so I think the sequel's villain should be Hush or Mr. Freeze since Reeves expressed interested in adapting him in a grounded way.

@@artmyfriends8404 I'm not a big fan of the Batman mythos set in a real-world, ultra-grounded movie, personally. Not that I want a campy, cartoony setting. A film can be gritty without being ultra-realistic. I'm not suggesting you're wrong, at all. You're entitled to your opinion. That's art, we all have our own opinions and preferences. I agree that would be tough to do Mr. Freeze as a grounded character. They possibly would have to change so much to make him fit into a grounded setting that he would barely be recognizable. It would be interesting if they could pull it off though.

I'd prefer grounded to fantastical only because we've had decades of different iterations of fantastical Batman. The grounded version is more recent and I'd like to see it explored through different creator's perspectives. Not to say I'm opposed to another fantastical interpretation for the sequel if it is done well and was as refreshingly original as the first film.

Sure, even many of the stories that are considered to be more grounded for a Batman story have some small fantastical aspects, such as exaggerated tech, impossible physics, ect. The Batman lore just doesn't work for me in a completely real-world setting though. Many of my favorite aspects of those characters aren't very realistic. Again, fair opinion, it's just not one I completely share.

I'd personally love if the sequel took a The Long Halloween approach with a story revolving on multiple villains who are all connected to a murder case as potential suspects; Mr. Freeze, Professor Pyg, Victor Zsasz, Calendar Man; each would have their own MO that would complicate the narrative and Hush as the mastermind who orchestrated the events. They'd be returning villains who act as informants for Batman like Penguin and Riddler in Arkham Asylum + set up Harvey Dent as a new ambitious DA who slowly cracks as the story goes along, setting him as Two-Face for the sequel.

Yeah, I think that would make perfect sense, and seeing as this trilogy seem to be more of a mystery noir take on Batman rather than the action thriller versions that came before it, a murder case with multiple suspects could take an almost Rashomon approach, where each suspect gets their story and can be ruled out, with Hush (masterfully portrayed by Adam Driver as Bruces child hood friend) would be the orchestrator. Another actor I would consider for that role is Caleb Landry Jones (the brother from "Get Out").

Reeves said they currently don't have any major plans with Joker. So, he probably won't be in The Batman 2. Reeves and Pattinson have name dropped a couple potential villains for sequels like Mr. Freeze.

I'd love to see a horror-esque approach with an arkham asylum style scarecrow in the noir Gotham city background with batman and scarecrow stalking each other in the shadows. Definitely potential with the darker approach to these movies . The Court of Owls could be used this way as well Deathstroke would be an interesting villain to see in this environment as well with much of the similar benefits Bane would bring.

Maybe a deformed guy escape’s from the circus, where he’s been on exhibition because he looks like a croc, with the city flooded he could be using the sewer system, we’ve not had a live action croc yet, and I think this universe is perfect

I'd love to see a grounded and realistic take on Mr. Freeze. Victor and Nora's story is such an interesting one, and I'd love to see it given a proper adaptation on film. I'd also be very interested in seeing Matt Reeves' take on Scarecrow in this universe. Bruce Wayne has a monologue at the beginning of the first movie about fear, and how he utilizes it as a tool/weapon. By the end of the film he has come to realize that fear isn't what Gotham needs, and that it's actually in need of hope instead. It would be very interesting to see this Batman come face to face with a villain that forces him to reexamine his relationship with fear, and also have his "fear is a weapon" mentality turned against him. There are plenty of amazing plots from the comics that could be used as inspiration, but I'd actually really like to see them take some inspiration from Batman: Arkham Knight's interpretation (mostly just because that's my favorite version of Scarecrow, lol).

I'd wanna see Scarecrow as a villain in the sequel. It kinda fits the theme since Batman was initially represented as the 'fear' in Gotham at night although he went through a change of heart and it would be a great opportunity with a theme of the new and real fear has arrived and can even make the novice batman shit his pants.

There's a few problems I have with the Venom theory. 1 We don't know that it's green, the cap is but the liquid could be colorless for all we know. 2 recharging someone in seconds is just what Adrenaline tends to do in movies. It's treated as this magic jumpstart quite often in films. 3 it's literally confirmed it's just an adrenaline shot.

If they're doing that Arkham series on HBO Max, that's the perfect place to feature him. He's my all time favorite villain, but I think we've seen enough of him in movies for a while. A slow, psychological study of his character, let's say through the eyes of a Dr. Harleen Quinzel, would be interesting. They gave us a window into the psyche of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, which I believe is what gave that movie it's real substance. His Joker was more fractured and shunned from society, where as this version seems more devious and menacing. Delving into the method of his madness, while seeing him turn Dr Quinzel into Harley would be fantastic.

As much as I would like villain related sequel titles for The Batman sequels, I feel like it would be too different or uneven. This Batman feels like he goes through chapters. He even novels his experiences. I feel like to keep it all flowing with the feel of the first film that the sequel titles should not be villain related like, "Fear The Batman" or "The Batman: Heart of Ice" or anything like that. As cool as that is it doesn't feel like it fits with what the first film and title brought. I would personally prefer titles like this for example: *The Batman 2* *The Batman II* *The Batman: Chapter 2* I hope you kind of understand my point. 😅

Definitely would prefer villains we haven't seen on screen before. Definitely have Killer Kroc in the somewhere in thesequel though, especially with the circumstances Gotham is in currently. But ultimately whoever works thematically for progressing Batman's story arc, or would do well in a story where Batman is desperately trying to keep the city from tearing itself apart without any external assistance (No Man's Land of course) which lends itself to focusing on him while also playing with multiple villain characters here and there to the point you wouldn't really even need a "main" antagonist since it would be more of a character study driven film.

Right now one of my biggest problems with batman in cinema is this incessant urge to make everything grounded. I mean yeah try and make most of it grounded but keep mystical and magical as is. There is a reason someone like freeze, poison ivy, or clayface work so well. Its because one they have good background stories, and two their weird larger than life powers draw people in as it's just batman taking on this weird force of man made monstrosities. Realism should be a pick your battle type of theme not an all or nothing. Make riddler more realistic or joker more realistic because they are already realistic so its not a far stretch but when you try and make poison ivy grounded it fails

We should take a break from making Joker adaptations in Batman Movies and we’ll just focus on Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Similar to the Spider-Man: Homecoming Trilogy, they didn’t introduce the main villain, Green Goblin until the 3rd Movie and they introduced new villains in the first two movies including The Vulture and Mysterio. For The Batman Sequel, I want Hush, Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze to appear in the sequel and the Comic Stories I want the movie to adapt is Hush and Dark Victory. I also hope that The Batman sets up a new DC universe so we can have the Justice League make their debut in that new universe.

I've always felt that the Joker should be established in the first movie of a trilogy and rather than being the direct villain of the first two movies, he's just an agent of chaos, interacting with other villains and stirring the pot to make things worse for Batman. Batman being the detective he's supposed to be should have the ability to track multiple cases at once, something longer term would be nice imo.

The thing I love about Batman and his rouges gallery is that all of them are so iconic each of them could literally have a full length movie or TV show in their own right. Batman and Spider-Man are the two most popular super heroes that have the most iconic and popular villains. We know almost every single foe of batmans enemies. honestly almost every single super villain could be amazing on the big screen. Some that I want to BADLY BADLY see would be. Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy , Scarecrow, Harley Quinn (only would work if Joker is introduced unless she is established as a normal person the entirety of the movie it's okay if Jokers not in it then but not Harley Quinn until Joker does step in the spot light. Killer Moth as a side plot character, Fire fly as a side plot character, full story of Penguin, Solomon Grundy. DeadShot as a side plot or a small part connection to the story. Killer Crock and the one I would LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE to see ventriloquist and Scarface . We have been lacking that as a story for the longest.

I just hope we get villains who weren’t used in movies before like you mentioned two face and the joker. Since the DCU is confirmed to have Batman villains with powers, I think Matt should stick to villains without powers including villains who have things that emulate powers so I wouldn’t use Bane or Mr Freeze or scarecrow. So I would use Dead Shot, Black Spider, Lock-up and Roxy Rocket. Roxy would show how criminals adapt to Gotham being flooded with her flying and she could inspire Batman to build the Batwing which we haven’t seen since Batman forever and Roxy would be a side villain who works for the main villain. I like how the movie played with the possibility of riddler knowing Bruce is Batman but never confirming whether or not he knew. So the next movie could one up the first one by having Hugo Strange be who Roxy, Lock-up, black spider, and dead shot are working for to achieve his goal and he knows Bruce is Batman because he’s the first villain to figure it out in Batman’s history. Or lock-up could be the leader and puts this team together to restore law and order but his idea of law and order are brutal and oppressive like in the animated series. Or Roxy could be the woman in charge for feminism and spider and dead shot are her minions and she wants to prevent law and order from being restored so she can stay in control. Lock-up wouldn’t be included because Roxy’s goal goes against what he wants

Given the grounded direction of the series, there's plenty of potential for Batman's less fantastical villains to get a chance to shine. Including but not limited to: - Black Mask (A man that perpetuates crime from behind a mask instead of fighting it) - Mad Hatter (There's not a doubt in my mind that Riddler's theatrics and playing up a persona while committing heinous actions could've inspired other repressed, eccentric freaks to "get into character" while doing wrong. And if you've read the right comics, you'd know Mad Hatter has the potential to be a truly sickening, vile kind of creepy. Plus a hypnotist villain could make for some truly mind-fucking sequences and moments.) - Victor Zsasz (Another reminder that some people in Gotham are just malicious, demented freaks with no real motive or purpose just trying to cause as much harm as humanly possible.) - Two-Face (Could serve as a twisted reflection of Bruce's duality. Batman and Bruce Wayne switch by the turn of day to night. Harvey Dent and Two-face switch from one to the other at the flip of a coin. There is plenty of tension you could set up around a villain whose violence is left up to random 50/50 chance.) - Calendar Man (He was an iconic, if minor part of The Long Halloween, which The Batman was heavily influenced by. That and the Arkham games gave us a glimpse at the creepiness he has potential for.) - The Eraser (He may have been a silver age goof but if we give him a similar retooling that Calendar Man went through, he could be a genuinely compelling, menacing villain. How can the world's greatest detective effectively analyze the crime scene when someone's scrubbed it of any evidence to work with?) - Hugo Strange (A truly meticulous psychological threat that no amount of beatdowns can repress. And his potential to crack Bruce's identity could make him a certified problem.) - Hush (His debut comic didn't do him justice but there is still potential in the concept. Make it to where he targets Bruce Wayne instead of Batman. It would have Bruce looking over his shoulder even after the cape and cowl comes off. If you couple that with nights spent dealing with other villains, it's gonna tire Bruce out quickly and make his life a living hell. Also if they go the route of having Riddler's video about Thomas Wayne's deal with Falcone be the inspiration for him going after Bruce, that would be a really cool way of keeping the idea of Riddler's influence on him from the comic.) - Professor Pyg (Another person using the image of an animal to terrify people. While Batman has morals, Pyg is a straight up depraved, unfeeling monster.) - Tally Man (Not a lot of material featuring this villian but he'd be neat to see. He's basically an armed and dangerous debt collector, and I think he'd make for a fun supporting antagonist.)

I want to see Hush and Mr. Freeze as the main villains. Harvey Dent is a behind-the-scenes character who later reveals at the end was a criminal mastermind and betrayed his friend Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. He doesn’t become two-face until the end. Oswald Cobblepot got into an accident and developed his bird-like hands from the comics. The Joker hears about Two-Face’s lair at the old abandoned Gotham Zoo. He teaches The Riddler how to be a good riddle with subtle humor involve as a reference and homage to Batman Forever if they ever thought about having Two-Face and Riddler again in a film.

This is gonna be controversial but I really think Black Mask would be perfect. Think of it, an intimidating crime boss with a hatred for Bruce would fit perfectly in a Gotham where everyone is struggling for power and The Batman has become notorious. You could have a backstory similar to his in the comics, where Roman’s parents were friends of the Waynes and pushed there need for social status to the top of their goals, rather than caring for Sionis. He would become obsessed with masks and have his company bought out by Bruce to try and help him, only infuriating him further. Seeing his opportunity, Sionis makes his mask and enters the power struggle trying to kill Bruce Wayne, who he sees as the symbol of undeserving wealth. Maybe it could be like Arkham Origins, where he sends assassins after Wayne to show more of Bruce’s personal life. You could have the iconic mask fuse scene at the end, maybe caused by one of Bruce’s weapons

I want to imagine the Bane being a extremist in Gotham but to his people, a hero, symbol to his people like the Batman. Instead of being an outright villain, Bane and Bruce would becoming opposing forces of wit and strength as Gotham questions both philosophies/moralities. Being better than Bruce in every way, Bane becomes a antihero which sparks a regime, civil war beyond Gotham’s walls. Both trying to restore Gotham but unlike Batman, Bane kills. Like Batman and his beliefs, Batman tries to mentally and physically endure to stop or reason with a man of trauma carrying his entire country in his arms.

It's too early for Bane and Two-Face, we just saw them in Nolan's trilogy... I'd say the same about Joker, but you can't have batman without the Joker... But still, give some other villains a chance to shine... How about a Killer Croc more akin to the one in Joker? Or the Mad Hatter kidnapping little blonde girls or girls named Alice? How about another crack at Fire Fly, since we won't be seeing his DCEU counterpart anymore?

Matt Reeves has gone on record saying he’s honestly unsure of whether or not Joker will ever show up again. It’s rumored that he’ll be featured heavily in a series about Arkham Asylum coming up but Matt genuinely has no plans to include him further. As far as villains go I’m confident it’s going to be Mr. Freeze for a few reasons. Matt Reeves did say he wanted to find a grounded interpretation to use, plus the fact that the movie ends close to the winter season. I do think it could also be a good idea to use Scarecrow as a villain since it would be a fun twist on Batman’s character from the fist movie. In The Batman, Batman literally says “fear is a tool. When that light hits the sky, it’s not just a call, it’s a warning. To them,” and by the end of the film Batman learns that fear is not what Gotham needs. Gotham needs hope. I think it would be a cool idea to give this newer, more hopeful version of Batman, a villain that prides himself on the fear that he once inspired, only this time it’s with his own plans in mind. Basically he could be the more villainous version of Batman with the way he uses fear

It'd be really interesting seeing a villain like Scarecrow who essentially functions like an evil reflection to the fear tactics and theatrics Batman is so fond of employing. Batman is only a horror figure to the criminals he beats, Scarecrow is out for blood and to soak in the collective fear of Gotham's citizens.

Have Mr. Freeze be the mirror image of Batman in the sense that he is motivated by vengeance. Maybe Batman relates to him in a more compassionate way than he did with Riddler. It would also be awesome to have a Mr. Freeze similar to Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2.
