Amazing explanation. Can this be used in animation? low poly high poly bake? Seems like it would be destructive it those designs had lower divisions.

zbrush has options to export to substance painter as "ID" which allows you to mask polygroups in substance, letting you keep the fabric with some opacity shader, flippednormals made a video about that

If you need this kind of results in a game model, it'd be easier to do this with textures and normal maps
