“I don’t sketch to put things in a frame, I sketch to hone my instincts” I tend to forget that about sketching: I try and make a pretty picture, even though I know that it is not its fundamental purpose, and I miss out on being instinctual and getting in the flow. The result is that my sketches are lifeless.

I’m flashing back on my kids’ favourite educational tv shows. How many times did they invite us to identify the shapes in everyday objects? My (way too) grown up brain completely overlooked that connection until this moment. Thank you. No wonder my kids loved to paint and sketch without prompting. They’d been those shapes shapes and colours all along. It takes me so long to appreciate what is already in front of me. Bon vacances, Madame et Monsieur.

Hey Marco! I'm a music guy who studied 3D a long time ago, and got to the point of getting work in that area but stopped because sitting for so long wasn't me. But in 2020 I started drawing, then painting, and got into oil paints. I'm still learning as I go, but think the 3D stuff really helped. I found I can actually paint and went down the rabbit hole somethin fierce. I'm still a super noob, but these videos are so helpful. Truly really helpful, so I'm playing records to the videos and having a good time. Thank you sir
