I m Roman Catholic and I love my eastern brothers and sisters and their correct reverence and practice. The Jesus prayer is AMAZING. Bishop Barron suggested a breathing practice while reciting this prayer, big deep breath in at the beginning of the prayer and exhale and the second portion of it which has helped prepare myself in communication with the Lord.

Such a kind soul, this father! My late dad used to make prayer ropes for several churches in our region, and my brother and I would help him out after school... I remember him teaching us to constantly pray the Jesus prayer until it engrains in our souls so that it becomes an automated response each time our soul feels some distress or emptiness, and it worked - even today, 30+ years after his teachings my soul starts praying the moment it feels the distress, and it slowly calms me down and brings me back on track... Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

The Jesus Prayer is the noetic door to the Kingdom Of Heaven within you. There is no spiritual life and no Orthodoxy apart from entering this noetic door. To pray without ceasing is to enter this inner door over and over and over again until the door remains open and our entire life is infused with the presence of God. We become prayer and live consciously in God. In this simple and often overlooked practice is the entire process of purification, illumination, and deification.

This is so friendly and relaxed. I have prayed this prayer for some years now. I was baptised into the Church of England but I find the C of E too “dry” and the Catholic Church too obsessed with frightening their followers with original sin, Purgatory ( where did THAT come from?) and Hell. This, by Father Coles, is very appealing and welcoming. Thank you and God bless you.

This video was amazing, I’m currently making a prayer rope, it’s the first one I’ve ever tried to make, I did not realize that the knot would be quite so difficult and I was struggling, having to undo the knot almost every time which with wool that’s quite difficult but then I read somewhere that you’re supposed to pray the Jesus prayer while tying the knot and by the grace of God something clicked once I started praying it, i currently have 50 and I’m trying for 151 knots, may God bless this channel and all of you!! “And take unto you the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God).”

The Jesus Prayer also teaches us that even a short prayer is powerful enough if it comes from the heart. God doesn't wants us to rumble, He already knows what we need.

Thank you Father for this content It is a very beautiful a powerful prayer dating back in the 5th century when the Church was undivided. It is associated with Orthodoxy because Eastern Christians kept it more than the Western ones. However it is appreciated by the Catholic Church and it is declared important in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I am glad that more and more Catholics are using it just like they have rediscovered the importance of icons. They are bridges between us in the name of the Lord Father Son and Holy Spirit alongside the saints in Heaven and the Blessed Theotokos. I wish the Orthodox Church adopts the Hail Mary prayer which is another powerful prayer. God bless you ✝️🙏☦️ It dates back in the 5th century.

In a fun way, I say of my prayer rope - ‘It is the original fidget spinner’. I take my prayer rope off my wrist often times when I enter crowded places now, my wife will say, ‘you got your fidget spinner?’ My rope coupled with the Jesus Prayer calms and centers me. I recognize my prayers are spiritual, my prayer rope gives me something tangible that I can ‘touch and agree’ - bringing my mind, my heart, my body, my soul - into a unity. It is here where I acknowledge my sinfulness. I acknowledge my need. I acknowledge my Lord and King. I was once One with Adam - yet now I long to be One with Christ … sometimes I shorten the Jesus prayer by isolating the segments - as a simple prayer in itself…. And as the Lord does as He does - and I behold His beauty - the Lord gave me beauty for ashes!

I've never done a lot of praying throughout my life, but as I've grown more interested in making Jesus Christ a companion in my religious and spiritual journey, I recite this prayer whenever I feel my thoughts and impulses gravitate towards sin, like when I feel I'm being wrathful. It feels very powerful, and I feel His grace wash away the sinful thoughts and cleanse me. This sensation often makes me tear up.

I am a priest after the order of Melchisedec, and here is what I want to say in regard of those who can rightly say the Our Heavenly Father’s prayer, and God will listen to it. Saint Maximus the Confessor teaches us in his Philocaly III this: “God makes Himself and calls Himself Father by grace, to all those that willingly accepted to be BORNE AGAIN FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT.’` Why do I bring that up? While the WRITTEN teachings in the Orthodoxy contained in THE Saint Orthodox Tradition pertaining the Baptism are RIGHT, the PRACTICE of Baptism is WRONG. It is an unquestionable true statement that a 40 days human being can NOT, first believe and THEN be baptized. So how can they be born again in the Holy Spirit? I can bring you so many such proofs but you already know them. Actually I will bring you one proof. The great Saint John Golden Mouth, was born out of two generations of Christians, at 354. Yet he baptized himself at the age of 22 years - in 376. And not only him but there are more of the Forefathers that were baptized the REAL Orthodox baptism - at the age when they could express freely and perfectly conscious their willing to be baptized. Therefore, the Our Heavenly Father’s prayer is NOT for those baptized when they couldn’t express their own agreement in being baptized in the Holly Spirit.

Dear Christians, 🌹 Did you know that Jesus never prayed as you pray nowadays? According to the Bible, Jesus prayed five times a day, exactly as we Muslims do every single Day! 1 - Morning prayer at dawn - Mark 1:35 "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed". 2 - Noon prayer -Acts 10:9 , "On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour" 3 - Afternoon Prayer -Acts 3:1, "Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour". (at three in the afternoon) 4 - The Sunset Prayer - Math 14 : 23 , "And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone". 5 - Night Prayer - Mark 14:35 , "And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him". Now If you truly love Jesus, then follow him and become a Muslim, because Jesus, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was a Muslim. Kind Regards.

Hi Exploresn - I trust you are well. When Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Empire, the Muslims adopted many of the ways of the Christians. We had and still have - ‘Prayer by the Hours’ - long established in our Faith before the advent of Islam. Even our architecture of our temples was borrowed by the Muslims. There is no dispute that all three Abrahamic religions have in their core - very similar beliefs and scriptures. We may even have similar eschatological events. But, we are not in agreement theologically and soteriologically. We say of Jesus - that he was fully God - and fully Man. He is way more than just a prophet. He is God. Thanks for sharing your perspective of the Godhead - may you grow by the measure of grace already present in your life - drawing you into a deeper revelation in the Great Mystery. Be encouraged. Lovingly, Cuthbert.
