Thank you Father for this content It is a very beautiful a powerful prayer dating back in the 5th century when the Church was undivided. It is associated with Orthodoxy because Eastern Christians kept it more than the Western ones. However it is appreciated by the Catholic Church and it is declared important in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I am glad that more and more Catholics are using it just like they have rediscovered the importance of icons. They are bridges between us in the name of the Lord Father Son and Holy Spirit alongside the saints in Heaven and the Blessed Theotokos. I wish the Orthodox Church adopts the Hail Mary prayer which is another powerful prayer. God bless you ✝️🙏☦️ It dates back in the 5th century.

Such a kind soul, this father! My late dad used to make prayer ropes for several churches in our region, and my brother and I would help him out after school... I remember him teaching us to constantly pray the Jesus prayer until it engrains in our souls so that it becomes an automated response each time our soul feels some distress or emptiness, and it worked - even today, 30+ years after his teachings my soul starts praying the moment it feels the distress, and it slowly calms me down and brings me back on track... Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner!

The Jesus Prayer is the noetic door to the Kingdom Of Heaven within you. There is no spiritual life and no Orthodoxy apart from entering this noetic door. To pray without ceasing is to enter this inner door over and over and over again until the door remains open and our entire life is infused with the presence of God. We become prayer and live consciously in God. In this simple and often overlooked practice is the entire process of purification, illumination, and deification.

In a fun way, I say of my prayer rope - ‘It is the original fidget spinner’. I take my prayer rope off my wrist often times when I enter crowded places now, my wife will say, ‘you got your fidget spinner?’ My rope coupled with the Jesus Prayer calms and centers me. I recognize my prayers are spiritual, my prayer rope gives me something tangible that I can ‘touch and agree’ - bringing my mind, my heart, my body, my soul - into a unity. It is here where I acknowledge my sinfulness. I acknowledge my need. I acknowledge my Lord and King. I was once One with Adam - yet now I long to be One with Christ … sometimes I shorten the Jesus prayer by isolating the segments - as a simple prayer in itself…. And as the Lord does as He does - and I behold His beauty - the Lord gave me beauty for ashes!

🌈 如何持念 The Jesus Prayer?把心归零。通过自己念,自己听自己的声带所发出的声音的方法,来集中心力。要点是不以意识分别的妄心来念,而是以不往外求、无分别的心,念到一心不乱。Personally I pray it in Russian, so I am not focusing on the surface meaning of the individual words but rather directly feel the internal benevolent quality of the whole prayer as I utter the Jesus Prayer continuously. My mind will focus on its own swiftly and my heart will 'glow' as a result. Very effective and powerful. One should try it to test it out oneself whenever there is a chance. People around this Jesus Prayer will notice the difference if done correctly with the right mindset. I first learnt it in that language, so I keep it that way. I do not speak Russian. It works. 🙏

I've never done a lot of praying throughout my life, but as I've grown more interested in making Jesus Christ a companion in my religious and spiritual journey, I recite this prayer whenever I feel my thoughts and impulses gravitate towards sin, like when I feel I'm being wrathful. It feels very powerful, and I feel His grace wash away the sinful thoughts and cleanse me. This sensation often makes me tear up.

This is so friendly and relaxed. I have prayed this prayer for some years now. I was baptised into the Church of England but I find the C of E too “dry” and the Catholic Church too obsessed with frightening their followers with original sin, Purgatory ( where did THAT come from?) and Hell. This, by Father Coles, is very appealing and welcoming. Thank you and God bless you.
