"Why not take care of people who made you successful" I'm reminded of a tale about the late Bond producer Albert Broccoli. When filming The Spy Who Loved Me on location in Egypt, the local food didn't do anything good for the cast and crew. Broccoli ordered an entire van full of food and catering supplies, but when it got into Egypt, all of the food was spoiled - they didn't turn the refrigerator on. So what did Broccoli do? He commandered a Jeep, rode into local markets, bought all the tomatoes and pasta he could get his hands on and personally cooked a spaghetti dinner for the entire cast and crew of over 100 people. Somehow I doubt Saban is cut from the same cloth.

I think I remember why we got Robo Rita. It’s been awhile but if I remember correctly Rita Replusa turned out to be a curse. When Zordon died in the “in Space” it sent a beam with turned Rita into a normal person and ridding her of the curse of Rita. The person who was Rita went on to become the goddess of good magic in Mystic Force. In Once & Always the curse/spirit of Rita Repulsa returned to take a robot form. This way they could bring Rita back and still give the woman possessed her happy ending.

I think the same thing happened with me as it did EJ. I think after the first season I was confused as to what happened to the original cast. I saw the movie and I was out after that. The best thing about it is the theme song. Fun story: I got in trouble at a friend's house because we were pretending to be Power Rangers in the basement and I yelled out, "White Power!!!!" My friend's mom had some questions for my dad, The Grand Wizard.

In Brazil there was a lot of hate for Power Rangers because before that we were used to watch original sentai series like Changeman, Flashman, Goggle V, Maskman, so when PR came it meant that no more original sentai shows would be on TV. Masked Rider almost never aired in Brazil because Kamen Rider Black RX was licensed and airing at that time.

The "magic" was the licensed footage from Japan. Nothing else. The kids were a dime a dozen back then and did next to nothing special before or after. When this argument first came up with people crying that they never made money on reruns, someone found out they at most filmed for 2 hours per episode. If anything they were overpaid and didn't use the "exposure" to further their careers. Hard to feel bad for them at all

I watched a video recently on how almost EVERY episode of MTV's Cribs was fake, because most artists can't actually afford to live like that, even famous rappers and pop stars. There's a lot of money coming in, but very little of it makes its way into the artist's wallet. Even within the 1% of artists, actors, musicians who "make it," you still need to be in the lucky 1% of THAT group to reap the rewards of your success.

This kind of reminds me of what happened with Three's Company. Suzanne Somers wanted to renegotiate her contract when it ended around season 5. She had been making $30K an episode, but wanted $150K. Keep in mind, that was $100K more than John Ritter (the shows top billed star) was making per episode. It was obvious that CBS wan't going to bump her pay that high, but had Ritter and Joyce DeWitt held out with her they could have all squeezed the network for more money. However, the other two wouldn't join Somers and CBS fired/replaced her after her contract was up. As a result Somers didn't speak with Ritter or DeWitt for decades.

Yeah, the original cast of Power Rangers were really taken advantage of by Haim Saban. Jason David Frank, Amy Jo Johnson, and David Yost put up with the bad contract terms as they just wanted to keep their jobs. I have seen interviews in which JDF stated, "they would have fired us anyway, so why rock the boat". I think the other remaining cast felt the same. This caused some bad blood between them as the entire cast was originally going to stand up to Saban together, but at the last minute JDF, Amy, and David backed out. In all honesty, this type of abuse was pretty commonplace in the 90s. The original cast of American Gladiators have a similar story with Samuel Goldwyn. They wanted more money and a piece of the merchandise sales. Goldwyn simply stated, "no, and we don't renegotiate contracts". In subsequent seasons a lot of the gladiators were replaced if they felt as if the pay wasn't enough(it wasn't). There was also no union and inadequate medical staff on hand the first season. Most if not all of the gladiators sustained some pretty serious injuries. It's a sad story.

I feel like the older I get...and perhaps the longer I have been working for myself and not for someone else, The more I side with SABAN. Sure, some of this stuff is pretty petty. They should have been given toys, they should have gotten raises, or bonuses. But Seriously...Saban was going around and hustling for years trying to make Power Rangers a thing! He busted his ass making deals, shooting a ton of different pilots with his own money..or scraping together the money to film pilots to try and sell the idea of wrapping old Japanese shows with American footage to air on TV. Nobody thought it would work. They made $700 an episode..but they only filmed at most 1/2 an actual episode of material, depending on the episode. And to be honest for how much I loved the OG cast...at the time I watched it, when ASJ, Walter, and Thuy left...as a kid, I hardly noticed. At that point, Saban rightfully knew that the Suit is what was famous, not the actor. JDF and AJJ eventually overcame that..but they stuck around, and in the case of JDF he came back a lot. But that is the name of the game with this show.

Which tells you just how crooked Saban was to make Disney look like the heroes by comparison. I remember hearing decades ago how awful they treated the original cast. American companies playing hot potato with this property, while Super Sentai has to change its production to circumvent piracy of the series in Asia, leading to their 50th anniversary series. It might have been an initial hit in the USA, but Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actively killed interest in the original Japanese show that made it to several non-Asian countries before Saban claimed near worldwide distribution rights and forced his version onto foreign audiences who didn't care about American high school antics. The Power Rangers brand is dead weight that has long outlived its purpose.

Say what you want but they definitely should of just took whatever. They were so young why would another 20k change your life at that time?? They literally lived off it their entire lives anyways and guess what?? Never got to see themselves in a big mainstream movie and do all the other dope shit the others got to do around that time.

Am I the only one uncomfortable with how much Walter is dominating the table and Austin's personal space?

No, it’s just cause Walter is the oldest, and probably was better speaker than Austin was.

My favourite episode was when they all put beans in their shoes and when they fought the monster the blue one crouched behind it and the green one pushed the monster and he fell over and then they all shouted IT'S BEANING TIME and kicked the monster mercilessly and then the pink one started crying and the blue one said what's wrong and the pink one said I just love beans so much but I must kick and they all laughed apart from the monster it was a great episode.

Fun fact: my elementary school principal was roommates with the guy who played Zordon in college. I did not know he made $1000 from that entire series

Even as a child I had an issue with its repetitive nature. It was basically the 1st show were my baby brain noticed this and I didnt like it.
