I think these tactics are gonna cause serious issues. Now that we have fast, tricky wingers, we no longer have to compensate, meaning we finally have a structured back Line which as you pointed out, left us vulnerable and made our defensive players like Ruben loon bad, with Rico we have the most versatile squad in the world, we can make a box or a dimond and then with the work rates of not only our wingers but Rico himself we can slow down the counters that punished us last season, if we can just remove the mistakes from our game we are dangerous

I totally understood him switching doku and savinho in that game. Doku was being held by Cucurella pretty well so he wanted to try a different kind of winger and it really worked much better. Some defenders have better luck against certain players and I think it was the right call for that game. But I agree that against other teams it will probably not work as well.

The riches is not about money, but the quality of players and then look at all the young players coming up! Interestingly, none of Gündo, Mahrez, Laporte or Sterling have done amazingly since leaving. Not one of them has won a trophy. Even Cole Palmer looked ordinary yesterday. Jesus and Zinchenko haven’t won anything yet either. Lewis, Doku, Savio McAtee, Perrone, and Bobb are the future. There were rumours that Kovacic might leave but they’ve died down now.

This in't a new tactic, pep has done this since his Barca days. All he does is just recycle the formations with new movements. barca started 4-3-3 and morphed into a 3-4-3 with Alves pushing up and Villa or Pedro pinching up and in as the new CF with Messi forming the #10 role (False 9)
